So it looks like Bessent caved to China.

Bessent looks like he is owned by Wall Street. If we don't address the China issue now then it will be too late in 4 years.

They are one of the top 2 powerful countries in the world I would say

Is the endgoal not to de-escalate and get a deal done or what? Do yall think we are going to just 245% tariff them until the end of time?

I think he is seeing a de-escalation because he expects China to come to the table. China has a shitload of cargo sitting on their docks with nowhere to go.

His best buddy is Jerome Powell but he still works at the behest of Trump so he’ll do whatever he is told or look for another job

A deal that's good for America. This is weak by Bessent. China can smell the blood in the water. Just yesterday I was told China was on the verge of collapse now Bessent is coming out with this statement of surrender? It's weak and will not work. China now sees Wallstreet will not tolerate any short term pain for long term benefit.

The end goal should be to finally stop the chinese from the shenanigans they have been engaged in since 1972. Up to now every one of our leaders not named Trump have only paid lip service to stopping them if they are not actually working for them(see Joe Biden).

Chinese culture actually celebrates winning by deceit, more so than by direct confrontation.

You're starting to sound a lot like Lindsey Graham, John Bolton and Dick Cheney types.

Exactly. That is why it's a weak arse statement of surrender to China. Unsustainable for Wallstreet who Bessent basically works for. We have to address the China problem now. It will be too late if we delay it any further

Wow. You need a break dude. That's not a cave. It eases market tension. It also opens the door to negotiate to China.

Nothing about that is a cave

Trump cannot afford to alienate the bond traders and market as a whole. The last thing he would want is a continuous sustained dumping of Treasuries.

China's economy will or would collapse without the US buying their products.
