The 1949 Armistice Agreements were signed between Israel, Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria and marked the end of the hostilities in relation to Israel’s War of Independence.

Aoun also said in the interview that the Lebanese army had discovered tunnels and ammunition depots in both the southern and northern parts of the Litani River, describing the army’s achievements in this regard as significant.Lebanon’s army has not deployed across the entire border area in the South due to Israel’s occupation of five points, Aoun added. Additionally, Aoun said that the army was “performing its duty and was ready to take responsibility for securing the borders.”

This is one of many steps. Let’s hope the dominos keep falling. We need peace in the region.

Even if we got it, there would be a never ending parade of factions demanding Israel be driven into the sea.

It’s a step in the right direction nothing more and would have never come about under a democrat proposal.

All the layers of the old intifada are starting to wear thin.

They have done absolutely frick all to control Hezbollah, the terrorist group that has had free run of the southern part of its country. Saying they "found tunnels" doesn't mean a damn thing when they allowed that infrastructure to be built and continually used for attacks on Israel without so much as lifting a finger.

No, this is the government moving into areas previously controlled by Hezbollah because Hezbollah has effectively been defeated.

And who defeated them without help from the Lebanese army?

Lebanon will still set off really big fireworks towards Israel to help them celebrate Jewish holidays.

Israel, but the Lebanese army did act to provide intelligence to the Israelis. This was a joint operation to help the “legitimate” government retake control of the country. Hezbollah was much better equipped than the Lebanese army.

Israel begged the Lebanese government for years to do something, anything about the Hezbollah problem. They even offered to support their efforts. They refused and kicked that terrorist can down the road until Hezbollah had a foothold that was beyond their army's capability. Hezbollah jumping into the Hamas/Israel war gave the Jews their opening, and they took it. Now that the Jews have pretty much cleaned up the problem the Lebanese government wants to talk peace agreements and such.
