His gang name was Chele, which is a Central American slang term meaning fair skin or fair hair. It's similar to the Mexican slang term guero.
He held the rank of "chequeo" in the gang, which I don't understand since chequeo means checkup in Spanish

One has to wonder if the Trump team set up the left with this dude. Make it seem they made a mistake. And when they commit to defending him like rabid dogs, spring all the juicy details about this POS. Stephen Miller is smart enough to come up with a plan like this. So are Elon and a few others.

I wish that was the case, but the existing evidence was probably a no brainer. Or one would think, right?

It’s a little more than that as they are asked to kill rival gang members (at least according to other court cases). So I’d think “lookout” might be too low of an approximation.

I'm thinking of the word more than his actual role. I lived in L.A. for 28 years and Buenos Aires for 6 years before that. I don't think I ever heard chequeo as a nickname. Of course it's El Salvador and that's a whole other thing. The Spanish spoken in places like El Salvador and Guatemala is not on a high level

It seems rather common in Ms-13 court case usage to describe rank.

Apparently, he was in some kind of metal crafting union... although, either when he was picked up in 2019 or when he got those TROs for beating up a woman, he was listed as unemployed.
It is currently claimed he was a gainfully employed, contributing member of society when he was torn away from his home and loved ones.
