I’ve noticed no difference. Should be an opportunity to get rid of the pork barrel. We could save billions a year and let Americans keep their hard earned money instead of paying for services and bureaucracy we don’t need.

Probably because essential employees have to work without pay... so you wouldn’t notice a difference.

Since you are so uneffected why don’t you donate some of your paycheck to the 42,000 coast guard members not getting paid but working or the 1,000 of agents in DOJ doing the same.

A dozen ignorant threads a day on this board saying the same thing.

Why don't you? You're the one whining about it on a message board. Put your money where you mouth is chief.

We don't need the Coast Guard. The Navy can do that job.

Yep. After responding to a half dozen threads this week I hoped more would be enlighten.

Alas, they continue to pop up like damn weeds.

If there was a team of independent auditors, who were allowed full access to all government agencies, I think their final report from their audit would shock most Americans on how much money is wasted....., I could share some personal stories working as a government contractor but I'm not comfortable doing that on a public forum.

Which proves his point. If the shutdown drags on for 1-2 months without our lives being negatively impacted by the non-essential personnel not working, then we might not need them at all.

So the Coast Guard is the rally cry?

My father and my uncle were career Coast Guard, and this is the most attention I've ever seen given to the USCG, EVER.

I'm pretty sure TSA is funded through 2019; not part of this shutdown.

Having done work for the New Orleans government; if the fed is anything close, it's probably like 50% of the budget that is pissed away on decisions like renting things for years you could buy outright for 1% of the cost. There's no accountability at all. That's why most countries go broke as more and more centralization occurs. But hey, THIS TIME IT'LL BE DIFFERENT, said every fool ever.

if trump wants to set the dimms asses on fire he should start making daily tweets about reviewing all the areas currently shut down to see if they need reorganized with massive cutbacks since them being shut down arent having any negative effects, therefore those services are just bloated government causing wasteful spending.

go after the dimms pork and they will squeal very loudly and end this shutdown with a quickness

You would be wrong. In addition, since the non-essential tsa agents aren't working, the essential staff is having to work forced overtime (without pay) to make up the difference.

Were any of these non-essential federal employees crying a river for me during the Great Recession?
Deferred paychecks? Boo Hoo.
They can crack open the college fund or hock some stuff to pay the power bill. See how it stings to come off the teat.
