U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is running for Governor of Alabama in 2026, according to reports confirmed by Yellowhammer News.

Back in state while Congress is in recess, Tuberville told a group of donors at a private event on Wednesday night that his mind is officially made up. Rather than seeking re-election to the U.S. Senate, he is ready to run his next race in Alabama — and serve the people of the state in Montgomery instead of Washington.

I do not believe for one second Tuberville will live in Montgomery, AL for any period of time.

How exactly will that work? Doesn't he live in Florida now as our senator?

That would suck...Tuberville is great in DC, but I would not doubt he hates every last one of them.

I’d be interested to see how he would do. As silly as it sounds, I could see him being a former Auburn head coach hurting him with a significant number of Alabama voters.

He had a house on Lake Martin at one point.

Maybe in the primary but he has DC experience, is a respected name in MAGA circles, and much less swampy than his likely opponents.

Once he’s the nominee, Alabama won’t vote for a democrat without a Roy Moore scandal.

He was so trashy at Ole Miss and Auburn.
I see why he's done so well in DC.

He has a residence in B'ham and office space paid for by the government.

Having a second home in another state doesn’t prevent you from running for governor.

I'd vote for Tubs. Memaw had to clean up an embarrassing shitshow and has served the State well. I believe Tub's would do the same.

I’d rather him as Gov than as Senator. He has the perfect temperament to be Governor. But as senator he won’t really accomplish much.

Governor is a step down from Senator in my humble opinion.

He bought a house in Auburn and still owns it.

Nick Saban was and still is a democrat. There’s a lot of Bama fans on this site that would still lick his boots.

I heard this in a radio interview the other week. It was a different Republican and it seemed like a little slip.
