Read between the lines. "Knowledge of the chat" means someone who purportedly knew that Hegseth had a conversation with his wife and brother.
Therefore, I could easily consider myself as someone with knowledge of the chat. Why? Because I would assume that at some point Hegseth would have a conversation of some form with his wife and brother.
That's exactly how fake news works. I remember every major network (including Faux News, though they still somehow have their fair share of staunch supporters here) running with absolute bullshite stories during Trump's first term while citing their "anonymous sources" as being "familiar with Trump's way of thinking" or some other ridiculous nonsense.
Just never forget.... "51 former and current intelligence officials" very publicly collided to prevent a negative story from impacting Biden's 2020 campaign. These types of people also exist in the "news" Narrative Control Apparatus. They are among the highest paid and most elite people in America, and are paid so well because they so effectively deliver the messages handed down from their overlords in the Etatist Kleptocracy.
