Is "viewers" on TV defined similarly to "views" on X?

I don’t know how views are being counted here but that’s like 4 times the Super Bowl. Seems off.

I am not sure

Do they know when physical eyeballs are staring at a TV as opposed to the TV just being on that channel?

Either way there are far more interactions with his Twitter

No. If even a second of the video plays on a feed then it counts as a view. A person can count multiple times without having watched more than 5 seconds, etc...

Tucker gets a ton of actual views but these hundreds of millions of view numbers are not even close to actual views.

Both are wildly inaccurate, but at least on social media there is a tracking mechanism and a measurable "click" and "viewed" data point.

On a TV, people have it on in the background, or aren't paying attention. People don't have a twitter video on in the background. They are either watching it or not.

Sure, some people click and watch for a few seconds or minutes, but people also do that on TV.

Television viewers are tracked through a small number of Nielsen boxes that are then extrapolated to the population at large (except on some streaming platforms that can actual track viewers). It's like a poll or focus group. Sometimes accurate and sometimes not.

It’s almost certainly impressions. Meaning hundreds of millions scrolled by it.

Whatever makes the most money from advertisers is the right answer.

Seriously, I think the reason why "views" is important to Elon is because a view indicates that someone has clicked on the tweet and usually right below the tweet is a promotional/advertising tweet. So if someone just clicks on the tweet to give it a view they are being exposed to advertising. They may not even watch the video.

No. Any one that scrolls by it is counted as a view online. Doesn;t mean they were actually engaged. That being said, the interview put up HUGE numbers. Shows how may people were curious to hear Putin's explanations.

Yep, if anyone you follow retweeted it then you will "view" it.

Lots of people watched part of it I'm sure. Not close to 100 million tho

His main value on Fox was redpilling neocon boomers. But, his reach and the depth of things he can cover is way better now.

From Twitter Help

quote:

View counts show the total number of times a post has been viewed. With view counts, you can easily see the reach of your posts and the posts you see on the Timeline. They will appear next to the analytics icon on each post in your timeline, and will show up next to the date and time when you open a post to view post details.

View counts FAQ

Do all posts have view counts available?

No. The following post types do not have view counts available:

Community posts

X Circle posts

Older posts

Note that it may take up to a minute after a post is posted for the count to show.

Can everyone see view counts on my posts?

Yes, whether you’re the author or reader, anyone on X can see view counts on posts.

Who counts as a viewer?

Anyone who is logged into X who views a post counts as a view, regardless of where they see the post (e.g. Home, Search, Profiles, etc.) or whether or not they follow the author. If you’re the author, looking at your own post also counts as a view.

Note: Embedded posts will not add to view counts.

How are views calculated?

Multiple views may be counted if you view a post more than once, but not all views are unique. For example, you could look at a post on web and then on your phone, and that would count as two views.

Can you see view counts on posts from protected accounts you follow?

Yes, you can see view counts on protected accounts’ posts. The author always could, but now their followers can too.

Will promoted posts have view counts?

Yes. Promoted posts will show view counts. See above for post types that do not have view counts available.

The views on television are basically an estimate based on the reports of those who participate in the Neilson Ratings. With an online platform, every view, every share is instantly tracked. There is no guesswork. They know everything from how long you watched it, how many times you watched it to how many times you shared it and the platforms you shared it to. They can do that for each individual viewer.
