Burnham is likely to be a transitional figure. Labour is too entrenched in their pro immigration, anti-native policies (sound familiar?) to bend enough to staunch their popularity slide. The news is not likely to improve for them, short-term, and then when the Labour plurality collapses, the sentiment will be for a *ahem* "strong" figure (Farage) to come in and restore stability to the empire.
As predictable as the rising Sun, Farage will come in, largely right the ship in 4 or 5 years (as much as that is possible now) and then be discarded by the fashionable and fickle British left.
