The oil companies make around $.05 for every gallon of gas sold, the Government makes..

By State:
And the Feds make $.184/gallon
But, yeah, let us hammer the oil companies and their small profit (compared to the government) who actually providing a needed product.

Yep, but these people are illogical, emotionally driven idiots. The current situation we’re in (lack of refining capacity) is due to them pushing esg and saying they will end “fossil fuels”. Companies are not going to put money into something that they do not see a future for.

C'mon man... where is your benevolence and compassion? These oil companies suck and should do this stuff for free... Your overlords know better and you should listen to them...

You're referring to the gas retailers which isn't necessarily the oil companies but you have a valid point

Oil companies make a lot more than that at current prices. Producers are probably make .50 or more a gallon. If you’re just referring to the refining side that may be true.

No. It’s around $.05 for the oil companies.
The retailers will add a little on their end, but their main goal isn’t in gas sales, it’s people coming into the stores to buy other goods.

If you don’t like how the business operates, build your own, amirite libs?

I need to find the diagram that shows taxes for the whole life cycle of a bbl of oil. It gets taxed every step of the way.

I was trying to do rough math on the profit and gas sold the other day. My halfass heavily flawed effort came out to like $.15 a gallon but obviously something is off. Is it really $.05 a gallon.
Google says 369M gallons of fuel is used a day or 33.6B gallons a quarter. A $500B profit comes out to .1484 a gallon which is still really low considering the risk and feast/famine they can go through.
If $.05 is correct for gas, then I guess the remainder comes through byproduct materials?
Biden is such an idiot. If he wants to reduce their profit to $0, we would have gas something around the $3.15 mark currently. That's to say that $.05 or $.15 reduction is not going to put a dent in the cost to fill up. I suppose he knows the liberal sheep will cling to the $50B number and not the mediocre difference to fill up. Either way. . . clown world continues to spin.

That’s a lot of revenue to replace when there are no ICE cars anymore.

Oil companies (refiners) are making 10-15 cpg
Marketers are making 5cpg
Wholesalers are making 5cpg
Retailers are making 5cpg
The government is making 50-60 cpg.
Oh and ags are being subsidized 20cpg

Look at the profit percentage over the last 10 years. The oil and gas industry is almost dead last. I’ll give the Pharmaceutical industry credit, their lobbyist do a great job in keeping their profit percentages out of the news

And yet the oil companies/gas stations won't do an ad blitz with this info. Letting the lefties control the narrative is the way they cuck this nation the best.

"We gonna socialize the oil companies", said some idiotic Democrat Rep.
Wasn't it the Houston brain-trust or the Miami thinktank?

Subsidies for gasoline amount to like .28/gallon.
So the government pays .28 and only gets back .184
You're only looking at part of the cost and revenue modelo here.

Based on numbers from California, USA, in 2022, oil companies are making about $0.37 USD per gallon of gasoline. Comparing to year 2012: about $0.05/gallon was profit for refineries turning that crude oil into gasoline.

I have always thought the gas stations should have a breakdown of where the cost per gallon goes right on the pump.
Of course I also think Americans should have to write checks each pay day to the federal and state governments rather than have the payroll deductions.
Imagine if people saw how much money the government takes from their checks. Most people think of their income in terms of their net pay.

Starbucks coffee is over $2,000/barrel. And costs a whoooole lot less to produce. Who is screwing consumers?
