Dude admitted he’d take the assault charge.

Dumb though. Just turn the guy in.

For a battery to be committed, there has to be a victim

The "Victim" is the location, hence why your criminal cases are "state of x v. Defendant" or "The people of x v. Defendant"

I think you mean "complainant", and that's not true, especially in some areas (domestic abuse, child abuse, etc.).

These videos, if genuine, are clear batteries being committed, at the least. The guy being hit doesn't have to fill out a form with the local PD for a prosecution.

Great.

Thanks.

It's like you think you're giving a class to oblivious neophytes every time your fingers hit the keys.

Someone should've updated your IEP a couple of decades ago.

When these private individuals do sting, the work often isn't sufficient for criminal convictions.

The big shows like To Catch a Predator often worked with LEO directly.

I don't know if there are stats, but you can go look up cases that were dismissed for insufficient evidence, entrapment, etc. And that was for TCAP, which did things pretty above board (unlike these guys who just apparently ambushed a guy).

What a couple of dumbasses to film themselves commiting a crime. Now they can all go to jail.

Bless them for being brave enough to do it. This will put the fear in other predators. Needs to happen more often and I bet it will, but without the cameras. Publicizing it is a way to start a trend.

I mean, these guys are recording it, so it’s not like they can plead ignorance and the cops let it slide.

Same. Just kinda seems like the dudes are doing it for their own enjoyment in beating a dude up more than actually helping kids.

I don't know how; but you actually found the goal line.

Someone should peel your eyes open for you like they did to whoever in Kubrick's Clockwork Orange. Then, play your life over and over on loop for you.

That's my IEP for SFP.

In his mind, that's exactly what he's doing.

Also, he indicated that the jurisdiction or location is the aggrieved party, not the individual. Does not the individual have the option to not press charges?

I’ve followed quite a few of these Pred Hunters and most of the time the guys who bust the pedos end up doing it themselves because they’re on apps themselves. They also hurt their cases because it’s false entrapment which leads to these pedos avoiding punishment and living free.

The pedo needs to be held accountable and deserves the arse beating for being stupid and trying to get off on minors.

The state takes that into consideration but it's 100% the state's decision.

Again, child and domestic abuse are major areas where "not pressing charges" has very little, if any, weight. If it's the type of case where some outside pressure (often, but not always, threats by the purported Defendant) will influence the claimant.

The case in OP probably would fall into that realm.

Do these predators get arrested since these are not law enforcement, or do they just embarrass them and hope to shine a light on them and hope the police investigate?
