Private schools should have no expectation of government funding.

But if a private school signs a contract to provide a good or service to the government in exchange for payment, both sides should be required to upold their terms of the agreement.

Can someone explain to me if this is actually a contract or what this is about?

Probably a mix of both, but I assume it's mostly in grants.

It's a gift from the tax payers...

Leader of our nation says no more DEI programs or no more gifts...

they have an endowment larger than several countries GDP...

Liberals say tax the rich!!!!

Well, why in the hell is Harvard getting a dime from the Federal goverment to begin with?

It makes no sense, and it needs to stop immediately!

2 trillion deficit!
1 trillion in interest

that means we have a 3 Trillion dollar problem to solve

giving Harvard money is not very smart

You're right. After WWII, the government started "outsourcing" much of its research to colleges. The benefit is that the government is the beneficiary of the findings in many cases. They can choose to keep it secret or share it with the world. If the US chooses to pull research funding from Harvard, it won't affect the operation of the school, just the research arm.

Before you get too excited about defunding these elite institutions, ask yourself how you'd feel if China or any other country started funding this same research.

I'm against the treatment the Jewish students received after Oct 7th. However, I thought the humiliation of the college presidents in front of Congress was effective. This is a fight worth fighting. For the new administration to demand that Harvard change its admissions policies or check faculty for plagiarism is not a good look. Stick to the matter at hand.

We the taxpayers should not be handing over money to Harvard or any other Private university. They have a $53.2 billion endowment. Let them fund their own research and whatever else they want to fund.

With this approach, nothing will ever change. Leftists have no shame and will never admit they are wrong. The only way you will get any changes in a leftist institution is by gutting it.
