I am a bona fide independent, but I have never really seen eye to eye with Democrats. Haven’t decided what I will do in 2020. Voted for Gary Johnson last election. I think Trump could maybe benefit from less pettiness and showing some more decorum of the office, but I really, really dislike how democrats have basically shackled him for a lot of the presidency with ridiculous nonsense.

Exactly.

Being a shrink certainly doesn’t exempt you from being mentally ill. He’s a prime example.

I've honestly become more of a moderate republican the older I've gotten. I voted for W, McCain, and Romney. Even had bumper stickers for them (so trashy, what was I thinking). I've never been a fan of Trump. He kinda pushed me to change my voter registration earlier this year to Independent.

So you can believe me or not. But it's the truth.

I thought it was a prerequisite for being a shrink.

I do not like Trump as a person or as a leader. His style of governing leads to conflict and turmoil and distracts from actually getting anything done. But I agree with most of his policies, and the policies advanced by the majority of the Democratic presidential candidates truly terrify me and I have little doubt would lead to ruin. In the end, despite all the damage he is causing by the way he acts, Trump is the lesser evil IMO.

Registered independent here.

I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016. Didn’t vote for Clinton either. Hated both options.

I am 100% voting Trump in 2020, and will vote republican for the rest of my life because of what the democrats have done the last 3 years.

That all being said, I'm legit undecided right now for President. I've been in Biden's camp from the start and nothing he has specifically done has changed that, but this new round of investigations has pushed me to the undecided column.
You realize Biden raised his hand on the Green New Deal, right? He did it on open borders, amnesty for all illegals, medicare for all/reinstatement of Obamacare with a shift towards single-payer, put coal out of business, end fracking (which means we go back to dependence on foreign oil), renew Iran deal, join Paris Climate Accord, new gun bans, and raising of taxes.

There isn't a policy he's advocated for during his campaign thus far that wouldn't destroy businesses, kill jobs, divide the country against white people, add millions on government dependence, take money out of our pockets, enrich Collectivist crony elites, and put us on a path to mass redistribution of wealth.

He would run us off the fiscal cliff, expand the size of government 10-fold, and add 25-30 million new Democrat voters to the system inside 2 years of being elected, very much ensuring we shift to a full blown socialist country inside a decade with no chance of any other party being able to stop it.

All while hair sniffing and inappropriately touching women and young girls.

I'm sure he'd put us in a couple regime change wars in the ME to help his pals in the Military Industrial Complex too.

This should be the sentiment of every single independent and sane voter in the US.

I put a lot of stock in independents deciding elections. The only thing I don't understand about their voting is their throwaway votes on a candidate who has no chance in hell in winning an election. When you are trying to get to point B from point A and you come to a fork in the road that neither one appeases you, you still have to make a choice if you want to continue the journey.

That's easy to explain. Many voters look at the candidates and realize they are faced with the decision to vote for the lesser of two evils. These voters also realize that no matter who they vote for, they are still voting for evil. So they "throw away" their vote on someone who, in their opinion, is not evil, but also has no chance in winning an election. They are principled and their conscience is now clear.

I'll be supporting Tulsi in the primaries. If she by some miracle wins I would check out the debates to make my final choice. Warren or Biden I'd probably just sit out, because Trump will win my state anyways.

Also, this post comes across a little condescending. But the way I think of it is a candidate has to earn my vote. Voting for someone just so another person doesn't win isn't good enough for me. I take having a vote seriously, and I'm not going to use it on someone who is just a "lesser of two evils." And I'm definitely not gonna vote for someone just because of the letter next to their name.

That's one of the main problems. It shouldn't be seen as a "throw away" vote. It's not like they voted for Mickey Mouse or Spiderman. They voted for someone running for the office but due to the way we are setup they don't have their voice heard much. They don't get the funds that the main two parties have.

Then the fear both parties put out there "don't look at that 3rd party candidate because if you vote for him you're letting the Republicans/Democrats win!"
