People who are worried about rates getting cut are the same as people hoping to have their student loans forgiven. Let Powell do his job.

I bet you think the Federal Reserve is part of the Department of the Treasury, don't you?

Trump appointed the liberal hack.

Anti-Trumpers Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury Secretary, and Gary Cohn, the Director of the National Economic Council (NEC) (Jan. 2017 to April 2018) were the geniuses who told Trump to appoint him. Trump didn't realize these two were anti-Trump at the time and helping sabotage his Presidency.

I am.

But being a fast reader to read a large sample of another poster's history of posts isn't really needed.

Perhaps you don't know that you can click on a poster's screen name and all of his posts are displayed in chronological order making it very easy to read 100 or more of his posts in a matter of a few minutes.

Your post history shows you attack any poster who expresses even the slightest disagreement with something POTUS #47 has said or done. No substance or even thinking in your posts, just personal attacks just like you've done in this thread towards me.

Very immature, ignorant and lazy on your part.

Imagine that. A leftard would be pompous, pretentious, condescending, arrogant and smug....

Pointing out what you are doing is attacking? I disagree. You're welcome to take a big dose of STFU.

The difference in your analogy and Trump firing the Fed chair is that Congress never passed a law making it illegal for you to fire your wife.
Yeah. I just wish Trump would cool the public Powell rhetoric. Even though the Fed under Powell has been inexplicably wrongheaded on several occasions, including now.

No, attacking is attacking.

You've even resorted to the tried and true, "I can't come up with an intelligent reply to your post so that means you must be gay" ad hominem.

That shite is right out of middle school. Or maybe college for you since you're a gump...

Powell spent three quarters of the Biden presidency signaling to or actually doing bps increases which definitely hurt Biden/Kamala's chances of winning in 2024 since so much of what makes the consumer economy go in this country during the 21st century is low-interest debt.

But yeah, the man is definitely out to get the GOP and only the GOP. Definitely not doing what the educated, informed economic consensus would do if they had his levers.

Me, too. It should be beneath him.

I tend to agree. But I know that the Fed monetary policy makers have so much data that we mere mortals don't have access to that I usually lean towards giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I go back to Paul Volcker's days as Chairman when he clashed with Jimma' Carter and then Reagan. (Reagan eventually declined to reappoint Volcker when Volcker's term expired.)

It's reported that Volcker once told Reagan "The surest way to get the Fed to raise rates is to publicly browbeat us to lower rates."

The Fed takes its congressionally mandated political independence seriously. Maybe too seriously at times.

Trump wants it both ways with potentially inflationary tariffs and uncertainty for businesses while having a strong stock market and investing environment.

The real world doesn't work like that.

Yet in 2019, he was begging for help again, before the pandemic.

I think the issue here to me is that Powell lowered rates under Biden but refuses to do so under Trump. Not sure what indicators the Biden admin had that warranted Powell making cuts that Trump doesn't currently have.

We all know that Trump wants to always prove he is right. Look past that. Take out the theatrics. Inflation is more under control now than it was when the FED lowered rates in August. Why doesnt that warrant the FED from lowering rates now?
