Rates were increased 800%, sans inflation, over Trump's first two years. By contrast, rates were raised just once during Obama's preceding 8yrs.
they should have been raised even higher during his first term.

Rates for the overwhelming majority of Trumps first term were WAY too low. The economy was running red hot into Covid, and because they were keeping rates artificially low we had no legit levers to pull to help when Covid did happen. We had to take rates from artificially low to essentially zero.

Inflation is finally getting back under control. Cutting rates like Trump wants to would just get that inflation running up again

Well yea. That’s never been the intention. Who told you the goal of raising rates was deflation?

I’ve said from day one prices will never go back down. I’m entertaining this thread though because the main complaint is rates controlling inflation.

Biden said that?

Yes Biden admin claimed transitory inflation and cooling although it was still increasing month over month under his administration. Most of their economic reports and numbers have been adjusted afterwards showing their fraud.

I’m sorry but where in the constitution was the fed established and under which branch?

And a rogue agency operating outside the constitution has no accountability after devaluing the dollar by 20% during Powell’s tenure?

I’m almost at the point where I accept that this country is unfixable.

If I’m being honest, an I’m certainly no fan of Powell’s or the Fed (I think it should be ended, wholly unamerican) the chairman of the Fed seems an impossible job. You’re either too early or too late.

But it's not. It's not a matter of being a month late. 2 months late. It's a matter of a year or more while calling it transitory.

He sees the signs all around him right now. If he does not, he should not be the chair.

BTW.. I'm of the same belief. Fed Reserve needs to go.

Probably because they have higher unemployment lower wages and not a strong consumer and therefore less demand?

Agreed. Whoever appointed him has extremely poor judgment.

Was that bad?
Was it bad the Fed raised rates even with inflation below targets? Was it bad the Fed continued restrictive FOMC policy for 6 more months while the economy slowed? Was it bad the Fed continued restrictive FOMC policy for months while inflation declined further beneath target rates? Is that what you're asking?

Trump needs to chill imo. He appointed Powell!

Let the guy to his job. He’s well respected on Wall Street.
