Did anyone believe they would ever be or remain that high?

The point was to drag the Chinese to the negotiating table.

Actually, yes, he is.

If he caves to China and they give no concessions he will lose my support.

That would look weak, and then everyone else willing to make a deal now will renege, as they will see he isn’t serious about keeping tariffs if no deal is made

Agreed. How can you bring manufacturing back to the states and not use tariffs to get that job done?

Trump will not play hardball with China

Thats the exact opposite of what Trump said today
quote:

Trump maintained that Beijing would ultimately be forced to come to some sort of agreement to bring down the massive tariffs he has unilaterally imposed as part of a trade war with China

quote:

Speaking in the Oval Office after a brief swearing-in ceremony for Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Paul Atkins, Trump said Ultimately, they have to make a deal, because otherwise they're not going to be able to deal in the United States, and we want them involved, but they have to, and other countries have to make a deal, and if they don't make a deal, we'll set the deal.

I’m just glad we are getting all of our
Manufacturing back. It was worth the pain for a few weeks.

Oh, and I guess we are gonna “refinance” our debt too.

This is classic Trump. It’s part of him keeping the other side off balance. He says no hardball…then drags his nuts across Xi’s face.

One of these fricking days people will learn that Trump starts BIG and works his way down with negotiations. People are too fricking stupid to understand that this is how he has negotiated things for the past 30 years.

This and this you clowns. Did you ever think we would keep 145% tariffs on them indefinitely. Its the art of the deal.

The doctor tells you that he is gonna take your leg and you resolve yourself to it. Then he says its just a foot and you are joyous.

Relax, he has this. Those tariffs on steel by Vietnam and India sure are cutting off some dumping grounds. Now tell Canada they can eat the shat they were rebranding and shipping into the US.

Lost in all this is Mr Atkins who is about to delist many chinese companies for failing to comply with US financial standards.

Why they ever let these ponzi schemes list in the first place is another story.

This tweet is unfortunately true.

That's not what Trump said. He said the tariffs wouldn't be 145%, they would be negotiated down. He expects concessions from China.
