udtiger's solution to Louisiana's auto insurance crisis

1) get rid of government mandated auto liability insurance
2) if you don't have liability insurance, you are barred from suing in tort for an accident - only exception is if other driver was drunk (and at fault) and you were not drunk
3) if you do have liability insurance, your damages recovery is capped at the liability limits you carry
True pay to play

But how will Gordon afford LSU NIL?

unless you are drunk/influenced and at fault. then you can be sued into oblivion

I would be ok with this.
Also ... if you drink a drop, you should not drive. And if busted for DUi, you lose your rights to drive ever again.

In addition, how about limiting conflict of interest between attorneys and these pain clinics that process these bullshite claims? The pain clinics routinely take the attorneys to lunch/wine and dine em. It’s ridiculous!

Yeah I'm with you...seems to me that big insurance set out to make a lot of money in the past by cozying up to lawmakers by making insurance mandatory. It has now all come full circle.

None of this will ever change as long as the lawyers are making the laws. They are not about to cut their own financial throats. They have it to good.

This seems like a bad idea

So if the other person is at fault but not drunk there should be no consequences? This makes no sense.

Starting to wonder if you know how any of this works

This would just require responsible drivers to carry uninsured motorists insurance. If someone hits you and totals your car and it’s their fault but they don’t have insurance, you’d just be… out of luck?

And the person that is hurt by the uninsured motorist can just… ??

As long as the Trial Attorney Lobby has a choke hold on the Governor's Office and the Legislature nothing will ever change. " Morris Bart's gots me's $400,000.00 for my's whiplashes"

Very well put. I agree 100%.

I just dont understand how these wastes of space can get license plates but then have no insurance.

I can assure you I am intimately aware of how this works

How about they just change it up so that your insurance covers you with an optional to cover damages you do to someone else.

Can we shoot them?
Kind of like back in the old days. Cars are modern day horses. You take out my horse or injure me, you've got to pay in some kind of way...

How about passengers, those who don’t drive, and under age occupants?

Give them a cause of action directly against the uninsured driver who put them at risk.
