News Nation, the three-hour prime-time block of live news debuting September 1 on WGN America, has set its on-air talent lineup.

Anchoring weeknight broadcasts from 8PM to 11PM will be Joe Donlon and Marni Hughes, accompanied by breaking news anchor Rob Nelson and chief meteorologist Albert Ramon. All bring considerable experience in various local markets — Donlon at WGN in Chicago, Hughes at KCPQ in Seattle, Nelson at New York’s WABC and Ramon at KVUE in Austin.

The weekend team will be led by anchors Rudabeh Shahbazi and Nichole Berlie, breaking news anchor Aaron Nolan and meteorologist Gerard Jebaily. Correspondents in four major cities were also named: Tom Negovan in New York; Nancy Loo in LA; Markie Martin in Dallas and Brian Entin in Miami. Negovan and Loo are both WGN vets. Martin was at KOCO in Oklahoma City and Entin joins from WSVN in Miami.

Honestly, who looks at the market for cable news today and says, “yep, it would be profitable to compete in that arena with long-term growth potential.” I give it three years max unless there’s some BIG money behind it.

Tom Skilling their big TV weatherman had stomach shrinking surgery a few months ago and has lost a ton of weight. Very good weatherman even though he's a switch hitter and has a crooked brother.

I hope they make it as well. The reality is though, most wont survive another decade with the current rate of cord cutting. That’s one reason why what YouTube has been doing is so dangerous. They continue to prop up fake news under the guise of them being “authoritative” and stifling alternative news networks that should be taking their place.

Must. Control. The. Narrative.

That's the thing. Most of these 24/7 leftist "news" channels are getting crap ratings...but AT&T owns CNN, Comcast owns NBC, Viacom CBS, Disney ABC/ESPN, Amazon owns the Washington Post, Carlos Slim owns the majority shares in the New York Times. The left controls the microphone. The left is also the party of globalism, monopolies, centralized government (big corps best paying customers), replacing American workers with cheap, indentured foreign labor or third world sweatshops.

It's always about the money.

What happens when those same corporations are operated and controlled by a political ideology?

What happens when the news is no longer trustworthy?
What happens when the news simply becomes an extension/arm of a political party?
Fact becomes fiction?
Fiction becomes fact?
When does news become propaganda?

If it's anything like the local WGN, it will be about as middle as it can be. Local WGN takes a light hearted approach to news, looking for good issues to cover...a lot more than other stations.

They've interviewed a ton of local known conservatives in a sort of "promote the product" type of way - last week they promoted the Covid-key group, veterans who mill their own items & made in America

Is that the same Rob Nelson that did the morning news on WWL half drunk or hung over after the Saints won either the NFC championship or the Super Bowl.
