I recall watching a Morton Downey jr show, damn near 30 years ago, where a panelist grew frustrated and interjected, "We sailed the Nile! We were kings and queens!"

So, it's been going on a while. Truthfully, I think this grew out of the "Africa" movement in the 70's, when American blacks grew inquisitive about their lineage. Legitimate research and understanding was bastardized into we wuz kangz.

Also, anyone not getting the Morton Downey reference needs to google. That show was wild.

That's absolutely false. Find a link from a Mormon site that supports that.

The Greeks? I don't know about SubSaharan Africans, but they claimed Ethiopians could fly. Homer never got that far into the war but Quintus of Smyrna mentions Ethiopians that came to aid Troy had this ability, but Achilles killed their King and best warriors, so it could be nostalgic propaganda to enhance their abilities, for example he also killed the Amazon queen and her best warriors. Giving Troy able allies makes the Greek effort more spectacular.

I think it is very dubious.

Can't be fricked. Do you own research. Doubt you'll find that sort of stuff on their website; they like to pretend they're the same as generic Christian denominations.

Good friend of mine is Mormon(very devout) and we argue all the time.

I tell him they're not real Christians because they don't believe Jesus is equivalent to god the father and he disagrees.

Actually I just went and googled it. Probably what you should have done before making yourself out to be a dumbass

LINK

Here is the actual LDS website straight up saying they don't accept the trinity as established in the early church

You claimed that they don't accept the divinity of Jesus Christ. That's simply false. Moving the goalposts doesn't let you off the hook for your ignorance.

Which is likely a credit to them based on every protestant/catholic explanation of the Trinity I’ve heard or read.

I read a history book years ago that stated that for hundreds of years the best, brightest and strongest were taken from Africa into slavery and dispersed throughout the world. Theory.... the African continent can never recover. The author's premise was that the population could never replenish the strongest gene pool after slavery. This was at least 30 years ago so the idea has been around for quite a while.

If you don't accept Jesus is equivalent to god the father, you reject the divinity of Jesus.

Mormons believe it's possible to become a god.

what were the asian and african democracies of old?

quote:

Greeks and Asian and African tribes practiced forms of democracy.

Also, why were there never any significant civilizations/empires in sub-saharan africa?

Itnwas started in the 60’s with the black liberation movement and the Black Panthers. The internet meme came from Dave Chappelle.

Perhaps the strongest, but the brightest were much more likely to have avoided dispersion and slavery.

That depends on your definition of significant. There definitely existed empires and kingdoms such as the Songhai, Mali, Axum and Zagwe. Mansa Musa, is estimated to be the richest person in history.

But of course, these places were not on the same level as others around the world. The Silk Road and other major trade routes couldn’t get through the desert, which is one theory as to why Africa has generally lagged behind other places.
