New Orleans. Louisiana doesn’t fund pre-K unless the child is poor or has an iep.

Those are the same kids Head Start is serving. If Louisiana is paying for pre-K for those same kids, they are duplicating efforts and wasting money. If the Fed Gov stops funding Head Start, Louisiana can continue funding pre-K for poor kids and those with IEPs.

It's amazing that there is nothing that can be cut. 6.5 trillion and it's either illegal or going to kill people if the money isn't spent. That deficit and debt...meh merely cans to be kicked down the road.

Most likely not here in Louisiana unless you live in some of the least populated parishes like red river parish.

This money isn't going to Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Sure it does. A little over $18 million to EBR in 2022

LINK

New Orleans has a multitude of different agencies administering their Head Start programs so I won't try to link them all. Over $6 million going to Catholic Charities alone for their Head Start programs, but there are also NOLA public schools, other community groups, etc.

America is not just broke, we are in crippling debt that has us on the verge of economic collapse.

What are the top 10 things you believe SHOULD be cut since you don’t think Head Start should be eliminated?

If what you say is true then everything should be cut as much as possible and all handouts must end.

That article has a hard left bent to it for sure. That is not an objective piece. The comment from Murray about cuts for billionaires are stupid talking points that have no merit.

When you hear that, they are simply trying to fire people up.

That fact it offers no subjective info on what maybe coming or if there is an alternative leaves a lot.

These are just hit pieces hard left Democrats use to rile up voting bases. In this case, poor Moms who us it for daycare when they can't 100% say if its even true.

Exactly

Head Start is a luxury that is questionable at best in its effectiveness. We can’t afford it. Sorry but it has to go.

Yeah but I mean this is the most realistic way.

People that can afford to eat should arm themselves.

Head Start benefits don’t show up by around Grade 3.

Head Start is day care.

We have a $37T debt and recurring huge budget deficits. How would you propose to correct those?

It appears d/t Powell's intransigence on rates, $9T in debt refinance won't go well this year. So, though we'll bring in $5T in tax revenue, take $1T of that away off the top as cost-of-carry for our debt.

So now we have $4T to spend against $5.75T in planned expenditures. Discretionary spending (DS) is ~$1.8T. Cutting every penny of DS would be huge in terms of national recovery. Head Start is discretionary.

Just as a perspective-setter. So you want to preserve head start. What's the counter proposal?

Do you have a dollar amount for every program the government funds? I don't.

There are some obvious wasteful expenditures by the White House that should never have been made before recommending cutting Head Start, imo.

Trump Administration Spent $1.75 Million on Furniture and Renovations to the Oval Office

US President has already spent $10.7 million of taxpayer money to play golf since returning to the White House last month,

Plus however much he spent to be the first president to go to a Super Bowl.

Because your offspring should be your responsibility, not the governments, or mine the taxpayer.

And because murder is wrong, you shouldn't be allowed to kill it because you made the poor choice of getting pregnant, when you couldn't afford a kid.

It's pretty simple really.

That’s actually a better place for it because health is a large part of Head Start
