Why have universities cracked-down on this round of student protests?

Irrational as these protests may be, universities have long been tolerant of free expression. Statues on campuses were destroyed or removed during the BLM craze. Damage to buildings and blocked classrooms were not uncommon.
Why have the "liberal" universities suddenly decided that this batch of students crossed the line?

I'd start with the donor logs for your answer.

Where do the universities that are shutting it down get their funding?
Who are their big donors?

My understanding is that some of the protests have physically disrupted daily functions/activities (eg. classes) at some of the schools.
Certain schools, such as UCLA, haven't had disruptions, so they're just letting people camp out.

This is just practice for when the deemed unjust police shooting happens in about 7 weeks.

Wut?
Students have been removed from dozens of campuses and threatened with expulsion.
This is all over AP News. The Chronicle of Higher Ed even had a couple of pieces on it.

The only place cracking down and cracking proverbial skulls are southern red state universities.. you can get away with that lawlessness in blue states but it won’t be tolerated here.

Because this will hurt Biden if it's allowed to continue, fester and the protests larger, as well as fracture the DNC base. They can't have that in an election year.

This is the most correct answer out of a couple.

Because Joe Biden is a Zionist.
I read that somewhere.

Because this batch of students crossed the line.
Calls for death and genocide are not considered "free expression".
Can we do what they are doing against queers, lesbians, trannies, or illegal aliens?

Biden and the deep state must be seeing polling or #'s that show these protests aren't helping Biden.
So they sent out the word to stop them
