Why Parler sucks, and why Gab is superior

Parler’s app is vulnerable to Apple and Google
Parler is vulnerable to being delisted by their name registrar
Parler’s UI is horrible (especially for those used to Twitter)
Parler has no API (that I've found)
Parler is a closed system (your posts aren't visible to non-members)
Parler has bait-and-switched users with their “free speech” spiel
Parler is vulnerable to blacklisting by payment platforms
Parler is vulnerable to being deplatformed by their hosting provider
Parler requires personal info, which can be compromised or sold
Gab has faced and solved all of these issues
I hate social media, but I’ve had accounts on Gab, Parler, and Twitter for about a year, so I’ve used them enough to get a feel for the usability and member engagement. I’ve been in the software development world in various capacities for almost thirty years, so I have some opinions on how things work in this space and what’s possible.
At this point, sadly, I think Parler is a bad joke. If someone got me into meeting to hear a pitch for a conservative-friendly platform modeled after Parler, in 2020, I'd throw them out of my office and probably fire the person who set up the meeting. I've been supportive of Brad Parscale, but I have no idea what in the hell he's thinking here.

They are apparently looking to change their TOS after a lot of complaints. I would hope that means they are open to resolving all of those issues listed.

You know whats better than Parler, Gab, or Twitter? Not having any of them.

I downloaded the Parler app and realized they wanted my phone number. No thanks.
Also also assuming it’s going to be tied somehow to my Apple ID/payment method.
I’d like a little more info before I go through with that. Such as, who created Parler, and who has access to user data.

Twitter is like the once-hard core rocker who used to play heavy-metal music and bang chicks all night, but ten years later is cruising the truck stop looking for a driver to blow to get a ride back to CHAZ. It's sad to see what they've become.

Gab sounds like something fat girls would do.

So clearly you never had a Twitter account.

Why would you make an incorrect assumption like that?

Parlor, from my perspective, sucks. Twitter is designed to pull you in and move you around. Parlor isn't designed to do anything.

Apparently Parler is banning people for "offensive language" as is their right under S 230.

Parler and Gab are nothing more than a convenient excuse for the GOP cucks to do nothing against big tech and keep allowing them to harass conservatives.
They’re an obvious honeypot.
Big tech needs to be broken up and section 230 needs to be reformed.

I never had to give Twitter a phone number. They try to trick you when you switch devices (laptop/tablet/phone/desktop and ask for your phone number for security purposes. I always was able to skip like I used to Yahoo-mail & FB-- and not give my phone number.
To be fair: Parler is the Dan Bongino show and boring. You can't even turn off posts coming into notifications.
DM's don't work unless you send them a pubic hair and retina scan. (Drivers License and selfie for those that don't get my sarcasm) Bongino should welcome everybody like he does poli celebs.

It is having growing pains.
If it hasn't already, it should allow non-members to view posts and threads and they need to make it easy to share and like pages to their platform.

They need to make some improvements, but I've been pleasantly surprised by certain features on Parler. Videos and images couldn't be any easier to post. I wish TD was that user-friendly in those areas.
At the same time, I couldn't figure out how to edit a post earlier today. That was frustrating.

Make no mistake much of this is due to Parler gaining momentum and being a viable alternative if it keeps going.
Gab has had its chance and frankly went too far in sanctioning the right wing brand. People just want a neutral platform.
Parler will work out the kinks, but if you want to create a competitive free speech alternative then the choice has been made already. It’s Parler.

I saw an article that said DM's were coming to Parler in 2019.
Can someone confirm or deny DM usage if you get verified? I always thought only poli celebs/reporters got verified. Imagine not being able to send DM's on twitter unless you were a blue check mark...
