Everybody knows that Trump opens the deal making by setting his base outrageously high, so that when the deal is made what would have been seen as an outrageous high on his part, now seems to be acceptable.
He labels opponents with all manner of manner of derogatory personal monikers, and then when the dealmaking is over, lavishes praise on them. Standard Trump MO.
Albeit that since China has for so long produced the cheap 'Walmart' stuff that the American lower classes consume, the transition to manufacturing here, or a getting better deal somewhere else must be finessed. Otherwise, the risk of a supply chain/inflationary death spiral and a political revolt becomes a real threat, to any 'deal'.
