I saw that one (Billion Dollar Goal) and Good Rivals on Prime and liked them both.
The FIFA corruption one on Netflix was more thorough but the USMNT-based ones were good.

You just can't drop this and not tell the story of how you became involved with the movie.

Maybe not quite a football movie, but Green Street Hooligans is one of my favorites and is about football supporters.

They had open auditions for soccer players in St Louis. I went and got called back. 5-7 days of filming, don’t remember exactly, but I do remember hanging out with Gerard Butler, John Rhys Davies, Wes Bentley, and oldest kid on home improvement (him the most). Fun time and learned a lot of the filmmaking process.
Had lunch everyday with Harkes and he told the story of when guys from the USMNT were drinking one night after getting eliminated from the WC in France. Sampson was hanging out on the hotel balcony and Earnie Stewart hurled a wine bottle at Sampson from below missing Sampson but shattering on the wall behind him.
Wynalda was on set as a consultant. He mainly just took his shirt off kicking the ball around and showing the extras his skills. He was aloof most of the time.
Butler flirted with extras every chance he had with his really strong Scottish accent.
Wes Bentley was as athletic as a Bambi on ice, so much so, they had to do many takes on how to kick a soccer ball.
I had a penalty kick contest with Gavin Rossdale, and he owes me $5 to this day.

That team/era was the reason I fell in love with United as a lad. 99 just cemented that. Incredible doc.

good family friends with someone involved in that, either director or cast, went to one of the premier shows at the chase park plaza.
