re: Gregg is tactically inept

I'm working on a theory that when Gregg is forced to be pragmatic (All of the Mexico matches, and today vs England), he is actually not totally worthless in terms of gameday managing.
It's when we play teams that we are more talented than and he thinks he's American Pep, that's when we look discombobulated as frick.

Just tell me the value of the point, soccer board know it all. What made it so valuable that you would clearly be playing for the point in the last twenty minutes?
Go read an article to find your talking point then come back here and fill me in.

Tactically, not much.
But he took over a national team that was fractured and has got the player pool believing again.

No Ream, Dest, or McKennie second yellow. That’s what I’m choosing to take away from the match.. also the point literally means nothing besides feel good factor. It is nice to not outright lose to England but yeah the point means nothing.

It does in the sense, that we put our destiny entirely in our own hands. Had we lost, it could potentially come down to a goal differential game should Wales beat an England team that may have rested some guys having already clinched with a win today.
So it's not much different, but it didn't mean completely nothing.

It’s not that it’s totally pointless, because obviously, by definition it counts as one point.
I was responding to someone saying a point today was “huge”.
In the end, it may be huge, because Wales may beat England by 3 goals or something crazy, but in the context of what can reasonably be expected to happen, playing for the point was an overly conservative tactic, IMO.

You're going to this is me "well actually'ing" you, but I don't think we played for the point.
We didn't go balls to the wall, because you literally can't against England, but by no means parked the buss. We looked better in the attack, outshot them and had the better xG. Just because we didn't score, doesn't mean we were playing for the 0-0 draw.

That’s why it felt like a wasted opportunity. If we had been holding on for dear life in the second half, I don’t think anyone would have an issue with playing for the point in the last twenty-ish minutes.

I don't think we were playing for a point the first 65 minutes. We were very aggressive in midfield and had a nice little thing going down the right, where McKennie tucked in with Dest providing width and Weah was rotating into that side to give us a spare man.
We are just very limited going forward at RCB, as Zimmerman isn't a good enough passer to even attempt those two 'around the corner' balls he tried in the 1st half to McKennie, and he wasted a good chance by playing a ball with his left very early, overhitting the pass. A couple of times Musah rolled the ball very slowly out wide where a little more urgency on the ball would have been nice. By the 60th minute though, our right side looked gassed, and needed a more aggressive change. Gio nor Aaronson got a real dribble going, and Aaronson's pressing would have been really helpful as soon as Grealish came on, as Grealish was staying left more and trying to pin our RB back, which gave Shaw a little room as McKennie was tiring.
A tiny bit of luck with finishing in the first half should have seen us win the game. We really outplayed them, in contrast to 2010, where we were on our heels more. This little lopsided 4-4-2 we are playing, with the LM becoming an auxiliary no. 10 and the RM tucking in to prevent from being overrun in midfield, really was pretty aggressive, and a couple of times Pulisic got in such dangerous positions where a little more thought on the final ball was needed.
It's frustrating because England played directly into our hands, thinking they could out-physical us in midfield, put us on our heels afraid to come press the man on the ball, and then try to get Bellingham on the inside right channel. It nearly worked twice, but thank god they couldn't outrun us either.
When Henderson came on, that really signaled that the English were going for the draw, but despite this, Pulisic still had two more good opportunities on the inside left channel if I recall.

This cannot be stated enough, we forced England to take off it's most in-form player because we gameplanned him out of the match, and they we replaced him with a purely defensive option because we had them on their heels.

Yep, credit goes to the players and captain Adams for taking the game into their own hands.

Team plays poorly:
This is all on the coach.
Team plays well:
This is all on the players.
That’s not how this works, man.
