I haven't played soccer since I was 9 and there are people on this board who have forgotten more about soccer than I'll ever know.

But, what would be the outcome if the rules were changed for the keeper and the keeper was no longer allowed to leave the penalty box?

I know that tradition is a huge part of why so many people love soccer, but too many times there's a nice sequence of passes and a fast break and then the keeper just comes way out of the box and kicks the ball away or picks it up. It's a buzzkill.

Would it make the game better in the long run after everyone got all of the hate for the new rule out of their system? How many more goals per game would it be worth, on average, and how much would it open up the game?

What if the quarterback had to stay in the end zone? I need more defensive stops if you want me to like American football. I’m incapable of learning or enjoying the nuances of the game as it has existed for hundreds of years.

What if it made the sport way more popular and consumable and the U.S. could actually sell out a home game in a major tournament? No sport is a perfect product. Soccer sure as shite ain't a perfect product.
