I want GGG out. I don’t think he can tactically compete with the coaches of the top tier teams. LVG tactically coached circles around him.

I think Tyler Adams mask a lot of GGG’s deficiencies defensively. It’s the final 3rd that GGG has no clue.

We had a couple of stretches where our quality was bright tonight. The build up to the disallowed goal was brilliant. Was that GGG or our playmakers making plays? That’s the debate.

Why can't it be a little of both?

Because that type of 1-2 build up play isn’t a regular occurrence. We play the ball back, play it wide and cross or play a ball over the top as our normal offensive strategy.

I'm talking about the overall performance with the multitude of chances we created tonight.

When CP10 is dribbling through three guys my gut tells me it’s more players than tactics.

that’s our debate, not the debate of the federation. bitching on TD isn’t getting GGG fired. it is what it is

Because for a certain segment of the fan base when we do well it’s 100% because of the players and when we do poorly it’s 100% because Gregg is a footballing terrorist. Nuance doesn’t exist. But that’s a lot of online discourse these days.

He seems to be caught between 2 minds. He is trying to get his best playmakers on the field. I get it. But it’s doesn’t make sense tactically. Gio needs to be the one pulling strings in the 10 if he is on the field. Playing him as an 8 kind of works but he disappears a ton.

The other option is playing Musah and McKennie as 8’s and letting them dribble through lines and having CP10 and Weah as wide options once the lines are broken. But I don’t think this works against elite teams.

Just seems like GGG is trying to use both strategies and neither one are being utilized properly.

I would like to see a 4-2-3-1 with Gio in the 10 and either McKennie or Musah alongside Adams. But if we haven’t seen it yet, we never will.

I mean based on the average positioning, that's basically what we saw today. Gio tracked back a few times but he was more advanced than Wes was.

5 years as coach. US talent grows but coaching remains stagnant. No worries, I don’t blame gregg completely. He’s a controllable mouthpiece at this point with USSF at the helm.

You got the wrong audience brolo. I never wanted Gregg initially and especially not for a 2nd cycle, but I'm also a #Never2ndCycle guy. With that said, Gregg isn't standing in the way of the coaching stagnation. If he's gone, we're just hiring another MLS guy or someone with strong American ties. Blame that on the USSF or blame that on that the job just isn't appealing to the coaches you are expecting us to hire.

And we were much better in the 2nd half especially when Musah came on for Gio. That is how we have been playing the last few years. But it has a ceiling.
3 goals in 4 matches at the WC proved it.

We need someone doing things special in the final 3rd. The only one with that type of passing and vision in the pool is Gio. The more we can get him on the ball in the final 3rd, the more chances we will create against quality competition (not CONCACAF minows).

A multitude of reasons.

Geography, money, status, etc.
