I want some of my lighting routines to use a different color/temperature of light, depending upon the time of day. For instance, I say "Computer, Lights On," and the lights activate in "warm white" color/temperature between dusk and dawn and activate in "daylight" color/temperature between dawn and dusk.

I suspect I need to use something like IFTTT in conjunction with the Alexa routine, but I cannot find a trigger that let's me do this.

Any ideas?

The simplest way to do this is to have two Alexa routines triggered by a voice command. The fist one would trigger on something like this, "Computer, lights on, daytime," that activate in Warm white and the second "Computer lights on, nighttime" where they activate in daylight color temp mode...

Yeah, that is what I am doing now. Just having some fun and trying to "smarten" the system.

One thing that I tried was to do two Routines that run automatically at a given time (pre-dawn and dusk?), and have it just reset the color temperature of every light in the house. The problem THERE is that Alexa does not seem to be capable of resetting the color WITHOUT activating the light, also. So, a routine that resets all the colors without activating the lights is completely ineffective, while a routine that activates and resets (then deactivates) every light is just ... annoying.

So what you are complaining about is that at 6pm you want the lights to turn from say 4000 to 5000k, but you don’t want them to turn off for one minute at 5:59 and turn back on at 6pm?

How often is someone home like that? Just have it done at a time someone isn’t usually home

yes, there are a few dozen “workarounds“ that you could use, and it is possible to simply put up with little inconveniences

I think it is fun to try to find a way to do it right. If you don’t, no big deal.
