I just need a solid laptop for school since my Dell crapped out on me. I’m not too computer savvy so talk to me like I’m 3 year old. I will say I’m not big on MacBooks, so what would you guys after that ? Much appreciated!

I got the Victus gaming laptop from costco for $900 a couple months ago. I like it a lot. Futureproofed for what I need to do with it.

I recommend Framework laptops as they are DIY repairable and upgradeable for many components including the cpu/mobo and even gpu in their newest model. Though they are more expensive but you are paying for longevity of the platform.

If you need a more budget friendly option, I've always been a fan of Thinkpads/Lenovo that I've used at work. My current work laptop is a Dell which has been ok.

Take a look at these for some suggestions:

I start law school next month and just picked up a new Surface Laptop with AI CoPilot. I got a few upgrades but you can get a base model for 999.

Depends on your budget and what you need a laptop for. If you just need basic functionality like connecting to wifi and storing some basic files, you can get what you need for < $500.

Just bought a dell Alienware M14 R2. It’s a 14” that’s pretty compact and it’s pretty fast. Cost me about $1200. That’s the 13th Gen I7 16GB ram and 1TB SSD. Graphics is GEforce RTX 4050. Runs really well on my 2 34” monitors.

I have the 17" Alienware. That thing is a beast. The power supply is heavier than a brick.

I'm a fan of Asus' laptops.

If you go on Amazon and filter by screen type, I'd go for an OLED display. This drives the price up, but you get a great display. (Something that matters quite a bit to me if I'm staring at a screen for a long time.)

I don't know your budget, but you can find a 14" OLED display laptop for around $1,000. Obviously, the more you can spend, the better the display will be, but that's more or less the defining characteristic of what makes the cost go up.

How much are you trying to spend? Dell XPS, MS Surface, some of the Lenovo stuff, ASUS, all have decent stuff.
