Are bestbuy pre-built gaming PCs worth it?

Haven't researched in a bit, but I did see that pre-built are competitive in price compared to a DIY build. Only thing I've noticed that my PC friends have pointed out is that some of the specs need minor upgrades, mostly power supply or RAM upgrades.
Eventually I'd like something I can play RDR2 in 4k without major issues and without having to break the bank.

Unless you're willing to drop about 3-4k+ on a higher end pre-build, probably not worth it.

That's because you haven't researched in a bit. DIY returned to easily being a better deal 12+ months ago. Not that you can't find a decent deal on a prebuilt on occasion, but it's not like it was back in 2021 when you couldn't buy a decent GPU at MSRP to save your life.

They're fine. The PC building community is one of the most fricked on the internet. They have to constantly prove to themselves that what they are doing is moderately difficult. It's not.

How could you possibly know this? They didn't link us to a system. As far as you know, it could have a 300w PSU and 8GB of RAM

This couldn't be further from the truth, in my experience. The DIY PC community tends to be extremely helpful and welcoming. In fact, one of the very first things people ever hear from the community when asking about DIY is that it's very, very easy and genuinely anyone can do it.

This. It's easy and a lot of fun researching parts for the build.

If you go prebuilt at least pick a computer company. Go watch some prebuilt evaluation videos to find a decent company but certainly don't get one from appliance chains.

NZXT makes a good PC but I find their prices are a bit high for what you get.

Go thru Microcenter if you are looking at a pre-built.

I’d much rather buy all the components myself and then pay someone to do the build if that’s not something you want anything to do with. That way you know none of the components have been skimped on.

Buy the parts and a Tom's hardware guide are all you need. Putting a computer together isn't hard
