Which is fastest/best in Baton Rouge area, assuming I pay for the highest speed version of either?
I'm sure this has been addressed on this board before, but didn't see after quick search.

Never had Gigablast, but my AT&T Fiber has been rock solid.

ATT is symmetrical gig whereas Cox gigablast is not, so ATT all day

If you’re in BR
always go with any company not named cox for fiber.

My top speed is about 560 megs and we will generally have anywhere from 8 to 9 devices on at one time with no buffering. That’s TVs, PlayStation‘s,iPads, and iPhones
Edit to add – gigablast

is ATT still doing that crap where you have you use their hardware and their hardware only?
Pass, that's just a way to ensure that you don't have any issues metering all your clients.

You have to use their ONT modem, but you can pretty much just any other router/APs/etc

I max out my mesh network (600gbs) with gigablast. I can't get AT&T fiber, the box is too far away and the old system only got us 40mbs. Cox is way more reliable than AT&T but it is also newer lines. We locked in 2 years at $79 plus $29 for cable, HBO including Max, Showtime, Starz and Epix. You also get some other streaming stuff like Paramount + included.
TBH I don't know how my quality of life would differ if I had faster internet, webpages open instantly, streaming always works at the highest settings, I don't download anything large but what I do download happens in a second. Between 5G on my phone and gigablast at home the only time I have to wait on a connection is at school on my laptop.

Lots of people don't understand this and some don't care about upload, but it really makes a huge difference for online backups, posting videos to FB, etc.

Do you need the fastest/best? Do you need good upload speed?

Mainly want to make sure I can have more than one TV running 4k streaming movie or sports without lag or forcing lower resolutions.

Pretty sure either are overkill for just a couple simultaneous streams

a 50Mbps internet connection can do that but it depends on how many TVs and which streaming services.
If you use an Apple TV 4k device and watch Apple TV+, you could hit 40Mbps per stream. Based on that and leaving 20Mbps or so for general streaming,
2 TVs = 100Mbps
4 TVs = 200Mbps
6 TVs = 300Mbps
If you don't work from home and you are not a power user with Torrents or running a file server to share items with family outside your house, then upload probably doesn't matter and just get whatever is cheapest. If you are a power user like someone who works from home and uses data intensive apps like CAD software or you run some type of file sharing, then you'll want fiber but the cheapest fiber should still be way more than adequate.

If I could get AT&T fiber or Eatel fiber at my house I would drop Cox in an instant - even if all offered same price for download speeds.
1) Upload speeds with AT&T and Eatel are both higher for comparable download speeds to Cox. Need this since I VPN to my house when I'm remote.
2)
Cox and their $50 charge for unlimited internet when At&t and Eatel don't charge for that.

I’ve got Cox gigablast and it has been rock solid 700+ most every day. Use an AX6000 Archer/D-P Link router.
Never understood so much hate for Cox.

Where can I get updates on this? Stuck with no fiber anywhere near me.

You'll know when you see them putting holes in you and your neighbors yards and installing pedestals or in ground hand-holes. Fiber wont sneak up on you.
