Audioengine A2+ Speakers
Audioengine S6 Compact Sub
My Logitech Z-5500 speakers started going out after many years of use. They were bulky in that the subwoofer was pretty big (sat under my desk) and had a separate control unit that sat on top of the desk where additional inputs. My main criteria was being able to have an analog system connected and have both the computer and the analog devices play at the same time. These speakers and the sub, while expensive, have exceeded my expectations. The 210 watt 6" front-firing sub sits on my desk and the speakers straddle my ultrawide monitor. The stereo speakers have built-in DAC and Bluetooth/USB-C connectivity.
The sound is clear, crisp, and the sub nicely fills in those lower frequencies. They look sleek and modern, especially on the optional 15 degree stands.
They are recommended, except for the price. I like to buy once (or twice) and cry once (or twice).

I've had Audioengine 5+ for years and am very happy with them. Glad you like the 2+.

Are you running this through whatever onboard soundboard your motherboard has or do you have a standalone or external sound card?

I'm bypassing the on-board motherboard audio and the DAC decoder is built into one of the stereo speakers. Signal from PC by USB-C cable. Other option is to use Bluetooth.
EDIT: I see they have some nicely discounted open box speakers available.

Ah. I have a pair of JBL 308 MK2 that I want to hook up to my PC, but there is an insane amount of noise on the 3.5mm line coming out of the onboard sound card. I have an inline filter on it but I'm sure that's deadening the sound some. Just looking for the best way to connect these active monitors.

Have you trie the audio out jack on the motherboard?

That's what I'm using now. 3.5mm to dual 1/4" jacks one to each speaker. It's a common complaint with this motherboard, just how the architecture is laid out it runs too close to the busses apparently.
