Out there.
Does not have to be a ton or unlimited.

I find Microsoft OneDrive is very good. 5GB free and 1TB with an Office subscription. Syncing between devices is good. I choose to use it over iCloud and Google Drive.

This. I have moved all of my stuff out of drop box and moved it to one drive. I still use Google for backing up my photo's.

*IF* you pay for any of the Apple One+ tiers (or whatever it's called), you get a good amount of storage with that built in.

This goes back to it depends on what the OP is looking for. If you are just looking for backup, probably the native cloud storage on your platform is best. I certainly use iCloud storage to backup my iPhone. However, I use OneDrive over iCloud because iCloud can be very flaky syncing across devices, at least when there is a PC involved. OneDrive's syncing isn't perfect, but is very good across platforms and devices.

Take a look at Backblaze. They have good prices and it appears they own their own datacenters. Quit giving the largest corps in the world (Microsoft, Apple, Google, AWS) more money.

There is always Proton Drive too. I think OP wants "retail" cloud storage, not cloud backup. I use Backblaze to back up my NAS, but nothing else.
OP, you can also start with a 2 bay NAS to build a personal cloud. Most of the Synology apps I use for my NAS work well, but I'm still going to have to use Outlook to get email anyway (I always use MFA if it's available, which can create issues.) You can back it up to Backblaze for pennies per GB in case your house catches fire, if that's what you're looking for.

Yeah I use One Drive as my primary cloud service and I have Dropbox and Google Drive as alternatives.
Google Drive works best if you are using the Google Apps and I haven't found a way to make that work with my job yet.

I'm using One Drive and it works well for our needs across multiple PC's and Android type cell phones.

I'm curious. Do you keep client info in these places? Have you checked if the info is being scanned for AI training, ads, etc?
For example it looks like having HIIPA compliant Google Drive requires signing a special agreement.

I've been to various CLEs over the years that list it as safe for attorney cloud storage. I also check every now and again. I have a business account for both Microsoft and Google (Workspaces).
HIPAA is its own animal. I'm not an expert but I think you can't even email docs (but you can fax them). Lawyers can email docs
I don't have a robust organization, so if my cloud storage is hacked, it's going to be direct access due to my error, which negates the protection entirely. If I make the mistake, they're going to get in regardless of the provider, b/c user error compromised the security.
I am , however, looking at changing how I deal with old client files re: the cloud/electronic storage. I may move old/closed files to a different cloud storage with very few entry points.

Interesting. It sounds like I'm more security concious about my personal stuff than a lot of businesses (that includes the company I work for).
Perhaps consider something like Lemmy mentioned. Your own storage and you could access it on your home/office network via a VPN.

One Drive for work, iCloud for personal

I second MS OneDrive/skydrive. No compression.
iCloud sucks for photos/video. It’s a sharing service but not backup.

I use iCloud for my Mac stuff, One Drive for my Windows stuff and Google Drive for my ChromeOS stuff.
Also, I've got a mini PC running Open Media Vault with a 1 TB SSD for an extra local copy of some files.

Yes, our team uses OneDrive too. It's great for collaboration but a bit pricey.
For personal use, I chose TeraBox. I needed a free and secure tool, and TeraBox is perfect. It has ITB free storage, automatic backups, and file sharing. The experience has been great. I haven't tried their premium plan yet, but I'll test it for a month. If it works out, I won't switch to another product.
