Not really a smart watch like the Apple Watch or the various Androids, but something like the Filip. We were going to get that one, but they don't sell them anymore. Got terrible reviews anyway. Tia

Getting the Vtech kidizoom smartwatch dx for my 5 year old.

I saw that one, but it appears to be just a gps, and doesn't provide voice calls or texting. Which may be better for a 5-year-old. Our heathen is 8.

Why does a 10 year old need a smart watch?

Most smart watches still don't text or do voice calls. There are a few, but certainly not one an 8 year old needs... Not that an 8-year-old needs a smart watch to begin with

My son has an LG Gizmo Gadget. Exclusive on verison. $5 a month. Will do text and voice. You can also GPS locate it via an app on your phone. Only people who can call it or text it you control via an app on your phone. Very handy to have if you have a big neighborhood that your kid roams around in. No more hunting the neighborhood or texting various moms and dads looking for your kid. If my son wants to go to another kid's house he can just call me from his watch to ask permission. Makes life easier for both of us. Gives you the ability to communicate like a phone but you don't have all the worried of giving a 7-8yo a phone. Several kids in the neighborhood have it and the cheaper GizmoPal version (no touch screen, will only GPS track and call).

As a dad with 2 little ones myself. That's invaluable.
