The past week or so my latency has been pretty poor. According to speedtest.com my download speed is fine (75-100 mbps) but my upload is .1 mbps. I do some online gaming and I often crash in the middle of playing because of disconnects. This didn't happen until recently. Is anyone else in BR experiencing this problem?

Have you called Cox? My guess is it's a problem local to your house or neighborhood and they probably won't know or care about it unless they get calls.

Try the usual modem/router reboots to see if there is any change. Also do a wired speedtest if you have been doing them via wifi. If it persists definitely call them.

I am running wired but good call.
Not sure who is downvoting you but it isn't me.

Cox said it had some outages Thursday and Friday. It also had some speed issues but the repairs are complete.

First test: 743.3 mbps down; 74.5 mbps up at 4 pm Saturday, according to my Tether phone app.

Second test: 759.7 down; 80.7 up

Thanks, for the test numbers. I am still at 0.1 mbps upload speed. I think that is a problem. Cox tells me it will be $100 for them to come out and take a look. I think I will go talk to AT&T at costco tomorrow.

What a bunch of idiots. It's as if they don't even want to be in business.

Best thing I ever did was leave at&t. Second best thing I ever did was leave Cox.

Nothing like taking care of your customer. I hate Cox like no other ISP but most times their residential customer support is so poorly trained they can’t find their way out of a paper bag.

In all fairness, if they tested on their end and don’t see issues, it could very well be your modem or something behind your modem. If you connect directly to the modem, are you still observing latency issues? If yes, it’s likely the modem. If not it’s behind the modem (your router or perhaps as simple as your network cable). I would start with swapping your current network cable and retest. Eliminate the network cable first, then go straight to the direct connect to the modem. With more info, you can call back and get a different tech in customer service. Potentially avoid the callout fee if you have more info that it’s upstream of the modem.

Good luck.

I never had issues with Cox at this house, but we switched to AT&T fiber about a year ago. They gave me a discount to bundle with our wireless plan where it was cheaper than what we were paying with Cox for faster speeds. No regrets but just know that their wireless router, modem combo sucks as a wireless access point. I'd plan to use something else and put it in bypass mode.

Was it $100 no matter what, or only $100 if the issue is with your equipment and not their lines/equipment?

I mean you should have switched over to ATT yesterday if it's fiber

Cox sux. I have fought with them so many times over multiple various issues and multiple houses. They epitomize the stereotype of a monopoly that doesn't give a damn about their customers because they're a captive. My current beef with them is over data caps. It's fricking 2024 and there's a 1.2TB data cap that you have to pay extortion fees if you want anything more. Tmobile and starlink who blast their connections through air and fricking SPACE can seem to get by without data caps, but captain cox can't?

Their customer support blows, their billing system blows, their technicians are mostly garbage and even the ones worth a damn usually have heir hands tied so they can't really help you even if they wanted to.
