ESPN does not display on tv anymore (update)

Is anybody else having this problem? When at work, I’ll hook my iPhone up to the tv via HDMI connector. Have not had any problems for years doing it this way. All of a sudden this weekend, it will play on my phone but as soon as I try to display it on tv, it won’t even load up much less play.
I can’t find any info online about any current issues. It’s not the connector because I’m able to watch Netflix the same way.
Is ESPN having app issues or something? Just curious if anybody is having the same problem or might know something.

Ok so I’m not going crazy then. Which brings me to my 2nd comment. frick ESPN (Disney) for choosing this weekend (of all weekends) to have a bunk product that doesn’t work right.

In reality it’s disney limiting free access on a weekend that’s gonna be felt. Something that will be more prevalent going forward.

Looks like no app for Apple TV anymore. Can't use Cox login.

I kind of thought what you're saying too. Just because Disney is involved and they're the greediest mf'ers on this planet. I mean, it's not enough that I already pay for ESPN with my cable package at home, but now they want to double dip on me and will probably come out with some bullshite like buying a subscription to be able to stream.
It's definitely ESPN programming fricking with the interface between the phone, and displaying it on tv. Because I was able to watch on my phone flawlessly last night. No buffering. As soon as I plug the HDMI cable into the adapter, nothing. Won't load. That doesn't make sense. And every other streaming service worked fine last night, displaying to tv.
Either they chose the dumbest fricking weekend to update their servers which is a bunk update that doesn't work right, or they're being greedy and sneaky by not allowing streaming (without officially announcing it).

This is our setup for tailgating having done away with our dish for football season. It happened to us on Saturday morning. Pretty annoying that they removed this feature.

If you are getting it on your phone, can you connect it to the Apple TV via Airplay?

So here we are, week two. Same thing. I chatted with an ESPN technical support specialist today.
He confirmed it. ESPN no longer allows you to stream on your phone and display it onto a tv using an HDMI adapter. I was afraid that once Disney got their greedy hands on ESPN, stupid shite like this would happen.
You have to use supported devices (Firestick, HULU, game consoles, etc.) Or, purchase YouTube TV (which is what I did). What sucks is that if you’re in a situation where you have no WiFi (tailgating, etc) then the setup with a phone was convenient as hell.
This really, really, sucks. It’s not enough that I already pay for ESPN through my provider. Pathetic on their part.

Take it back. ESPN has unified all their apps into one. Once I installed the new app, I went to the live tv section of the app and authenticated and all the live streams show up. iPad and ATV.

You won't have access to ESPN3 with YouTube TV. Found that out last week. I had to sign in with my ISP credentials.

Yeah but I do have the ESPNs and SEC network, which is good enough for me. Tested it out, and it works. Good enough for me for just the football season.

This isn’t accurate at all.

Doesn't work for me. Searched for the problem and discovered this article.

According to YouTube TV as of August 2019, ESPN3 is no longer offered to YouTube TV subscribers through the ESPN app.
I just login with my ISP credentials now.

Hey QT! We were in Nola full time almost 8 years, just part time now. Hope you're well!
