Getting windows OS for first time PC build. How?

Like it says, I’m building my first PC for gaming predominantly and need to get a Windows 11 OS for it. This is the first time I’ve built a PC and I’m learning along the way. What is the best way to get the Windows 11 operating system on my Computer? I know about simply buying the OS through Microsoft for $139 and putting it on a USB but I’ve also heard there were cheaper ways to do it but I’m not fully aware of those.
I don’t wanna do anything sketchy instead To get around things and want to do this the best way that is also the Least expensive. I’m sure there’s an easy answer, but this is my first time Like I said. Appreciate any help.

You can download for free at ms.com.
Need license to avoid activation prompts.
Student discounts exist. I know there are colleges with free enrollment and you don’t actually have to take classes. Never tried it.
Cheapest regular license is OEM (system builder) which attaches itself to the first motherboard it is activated on for $119.
ETA: students would go through their university to purchase a license and not Microsoft. The $119 quoted is “home” on Amazon. No need for pro unless you must log into an enterprise, spin up a virtual machine, or use bit locker FDE.

Groupon has a deal right now where you can get Win 11 Home, Pro or Enterprise retail versions for $10.40.

I would do it. Might as well do pro.
That’s prob about what the big guys pay and it’s a group offer so it’s fair. MS would rather you do that than go to chrome or Linux or Mac.
Worst thing that can happen is you start getting annoying activation prompts.

shite, I got accepted to a program that doesn't start for 10 months, I haven't paid anything but an application fee, but I have a .edu email address now. I can't pay, register, or do much of anything but log into O365.

MAS scripts is awesome, use this to activate Windows OP.
Also download the Windows 11 iso, and then use Rufus to mount the iso to a USB drive. Rufus has a setting that will allow you to bypass all of the windows online account shite during windows setup, essentially running an offline setup even with internet connected

Appreciate the head up! I bought it and saved the stuff to my USB for when all the parts finally arrive. We shall see how this goes.
