My friend's phone got hacked, can the Apple store back up her data and restore the operating system?

Just change the password and the password on the linked email account.

She's afraid they installed Spyware on her phone..

A reset will wipe everything and every bit is effectively checked for authenticity for the fresh iOS. Most likely the “Spyware” was a legitimate app or setting she let someone install or configure or got talked into changing.

Change the password on the associated email account. change the phone PIN and apple password. Go through all apps and remove all user installed apps that are not needed. Backup to the cloud. Factory reset the phone and it will wipe everything and reinstall only the apps that were on the phone during the last icloud backup.
Just deleting any non-used apps after resetting email password, apple password and phone PIN should be enough but if she is that paranoid just do all the steps above.

It's not a piece of shite android, they can't do that unless they physically took her device and jailbroke it.

you are wrong actually. jailbreaking the iphone is not the only option to get into it. I mean how about you give me your icloud locked iphone and i prove you wrong and if im right i keep your iphone.
Typical iPhone user, think because you overpay while getting less it means that you know more and are superior. Never fails. Would.
Would you like to compare a top Android to a top iPhone? The iPhone is great if you are limited in tech and only want to send messages, basic emails, or make calls. Outside of that realm, it's nothing more than a kid's VTech device!
Android operating systems aren't limited like your overpriced Apple. You get expandable storage, better file management, universal charging, and more accessories. Plus, there are much better price points due to the many brands and models available. You also have freedom with apps without the need to jailbreak, much more customization, and let’s not forget that you can run other operating systems on it, which I doubt you know about.
I have about 80 iPhones and about 50 Androids at the moment, and I've fixed more iPhones than you’ve seen. So, it's safe to say that you have no idea what you’re even talking about.

I like how you're so butthurt and desperate to get a win for your e-peen, you didn't even read the thread or understand the context.
Your multi paragraph tantrum completely proves my point.

That's fine and dandy for a super user in IT or what have you, but if you read this thread you would understand that is not who we are talking about.
The truth that android fanatics don't realize is that most consumers do not care whatsoever about running other OS, expanding storage, file management, etc. Just like most PC users do not care to build their own computers out of a catalog like the old days. For most users, abstraction is king.
It's also funny that your rebuttal to a claim that someone would usually need physical access to hack into the phone is to propose a challenge in which you need physical access to the phone...

You people are literally the epitome of what's wrong with society! Once again, someone is talking about things that they feel rather than based on facts. For starters, you made a comment about what most consumers don't want. Well, guess what? Apparently, they do, because overall, Samsung sells more devices than Apple. So again, you are speaking from your feelings and not from facts! I’m sick of grown men needing to satisfy their egos rather than discussing things with facts. Learn to read to understand rather than to reply.
Hahaha, no one is speaking about being an Android fanatic, you tit baby. If you understood anything you were running your gums about, then you’d know it’s not about Android as a whole; it’s about the ability to do more. I could care less what OS it is if I'm the one inside it doing customizations. Your boy wants to call users of a certain OS out when he could have made his point without throwing shade. You can make your point in reference to the post without being a coward and shading others.
The topic was about the iPhone, then punk boy brought Android up. Well, since crybaby wants to run his mouth and speak on something he knows nothing about, that’s when I came in and told you what's what. You two operate on feelings; I came with facts. Facts don’t care about your feelings. So, you may not like the point that you're wrong, but here we are.

Samsung nerds love to throw out this fact. In the US Apple outsells Samsung 2 to 1. And that’s with Samsung having a lot more and cheaper devices to choose from.

I'm not sure winning the sales war in the lowest IQ market is a big feather in the cap.

This is why fruitphone users always act in hive mentality. They claim their newest iphone is sooo much better when it is almost unchanged from the prior 3 versions. They frown upon Android phones is a sad attempt to justify their overpriced fruitphone. Apple makes good products that play very well with other apple products, but they're akin to teenage girls, very clique oriented. If you aren't one of us, you are ugly and will be ridiculed.

I was at google cloud next, were you? 90% of the laptops were macs. At a google event. Keep lying to yourself.

I automatically think anyone who defends samsung/android like cctiger89 does looks like this.

And in Korea, Samsung outsells Apple 3 to 1. Far more impressive than ignorant American consumers that live in a bubble. I'll only ever drive a Ford!!!! No Chevy!!!

S25 Ultra wrecks 16 Pro Max pretty much in every way possible. Been down the apple road before it's a drab place to be. If you know you know and I do
