Need to move on from my 14. Issues

Is the 16e good? Quite a bit cheaper. Is there a catch.

Phone is used to read email, play games and take the occasional photo. Nothing fancy.
Thanks

Wife upgraded from a 12 to 16e a week or so ago. She didn't really need to upgrade but Tmobile has $500 trade in for the 12 making the 16e $99 plus tax. Damn good deal for an existing customer. Battery life in the 16e is much better than the 12.

There always is. Single camera, and the deal breaker for me was no Magsafe charging.

If you want MagSafe, you'll have to go with the standard iPhone 16. Moreover, the 16 charges more than three times as fast wirelessly at 25W.

Just reset the phone and it will be like new.

And another 12+ months of postpaid service, which is the part everyone ignores. Spilled milk, but unlimited on Mint (same network) is $30/mo. And before you start kvetching about a multi-line discount, they know nobody is going to leave if their family members are still on a carrier contract, which further reinforces people not price shopping.

I don't plan on leaving Tmobile so $35 unlimited per line plus free Netflix makes it damn good deal for me.

Yes. I can’t see any reason on earth to upgrade from an iPhone 14.
Maybe some fringe case where you running 8 bit AI models or maybe the 48mp camera on the 16 but that’s it.

They are doing any condition trade ins at AT&T.

I traded in my 14 and got the 16 free once they give me the credits for the $830 trade in. My 14 would no longer charge in the usb-c port.

I have a 13 pro and wanted to wait till 17 to get a new one. Worried if I shouldn’t do it now since ATT min trade in for full trade in is a 13 pro. 17 trade in might be 14 min and I’ll be out of luck.

I'm getting a couple 16e's today. The negatives really don't bother me...the camera is great for most people. Nobody cares that your FB pic came from a $1200 phone..99% of people couldn't tell the difference.

Second, people are crying they can't charge with magsafe...boohoo. The 16e comes with USB-C ports. Just plug it in sheesh.

Some negative feedback about the price...its still cheaper than buying two full price 16 pro max phones. I'm coming from an iphone 7 that works well enough, but only supports up to ios 15 now, so apple effectively software bricks the phone it you have apps that require ios 17.

All in all, I just need a phone for a few apps, txting, calling and such. I don't really care for all the top tech. So for me at least, it comes at a great time in which I won't have to spend $2300 on two phones.

The 16e is a stripped down basic phone. It has less features for some people than a 14, so unless you got cash burning a hole in the pocket or there is something wrong with the 14, then sure.

Having messed around with the 16e for about an hour it is clear to me that going from my 8 plus, its a big upgrade. My battery was going bad and apple was not updating the ios anymore.

My wife ended up going with the 16 Plus because she wanted a bit bigger screen and the store only had one 16e left. besides the slightly larger screen and $400 more, I can't see much of a difference in how they work for the average user.

I can't even imagine this. It's nearly a decade old. Things still actually work on it?

It is a fully fledged LTE phone that still gets security updates. It is a fine phone to use. It is only on iOS 15 but I personally havent seen any apps that dont still work on iOS15.

The 16e is a fine device. People have been suckered into thinking that if they don't have the, "top of the line" thing, then they're getting a worse thing.

All you need is a "thing" that fulfills your needs. Americans in particular have been getting ripped off. It's not that much more expensive to make a 16 pro vs a 16e.

I'm still running an 11 pro max and it's a perfectly good device for my needs. There isn't a single thing that I can think of that would be markedly improved in my daily life by "upgrading."

Just remember, there's always a better thing right around the corner. The enemy of good is better. If you're otherwise satisfied with what you have, then forget about it. Wait until you actually really need an upgrade.

Maybe I've been lucky, but I still have 85% battery health. Admittedly, I don't live on the phone. Mainly just use it when I'm checking something work-related or doing some daily puzzle.

Even still. A new battery wouldn't be all that much.

Well the newer the phone the longer the battery life. Mostly cause of more efficient components
