So here in BR we had a four hour power outage. Now this morning my WiFi wasn’t connecting. Hit reset and powered off and on a few times. No luck.

AT&T says no outage. I plug in hard wired and I have internet. I look at available networks and my usual ones are missing. Just a new network name I’ve never seen. I connect to that network (no password) and it works!

How do I go about getting my old network name & pwd back so all my home devices work again?

Sounds like maybe the power outage reset something you had customized, although it's odd that it defaulted to no password — are you sure that's your wireless network?

Are you able to access the router via the Smart Home Manager app on your phone? Click the second (signal-strength looking) icon at the bottom, then click Manage Wi-Fi. Edit the name (SSID) and password as needed.

If it keeps resetting by itself, you may have a software issue on it, like an update that's stuck or something similar that needs to be purged and restored.

Use the at&t smart home manager app to update WiFi or you can login to the device directly at 192.168.1.254

Similar issue here; but notwithstanding AT&T stating online there is not an outage, the gentleman on the phone said there was. Our router name stayed the same until after that phone call, and we’re still without internet (BR). I don’t know whether to believe there’s an actual outage or not.

Yeah I logged in to 192.168.1.254 and set it back. I’m just bummed because I thought it was a hurricane related outage, did other chores outside instead, and I didn’t have WiFi until after lunch.

I have had service issues with xfinity for literally a month now. All services go out from 2am-12pm daily sometimes longer or sometimes a bit shorter.

The app and customer support both say no outages. However the convenience store I can see the rear of just outside the neighborhood runs xfinity and all the pumps and register are down when we are (the guy that used to do our lawn is who the employees call when the owner is unavailable he has keys to all the other stores too). Kinda ironic, store owner gets paid by att for the cell tower on the property but runs xfinity.

Supposed to have tech out early today to the house. We get enough signal that things connect to the modem but not enough to make them work. (iPhone WiFi shows connected with a checkmark and then says no internet. TV just says connection issues, pc’s like phone, connected no service) Phone support says reading like 0.5 kb/s at the modem.

Had to google to get the 800# from a former xfinity employee blog because the company is eliminating jobs and insists customers use the worthless app that only runs in circles offering the single solution to reboot modem no matter what the issue. They don’t publish the contact # anymore.

Have them check the amplifiers that feed that area. I'd be curious to know if there is a business in the area that uses a lot of bandwidth in that timeframe.

About 10 years ago at our old house the same thing would happen on Comcast in the late afternoon/early evening when folks would get home from work and put a load on the loop. Ended up the amplifier down the street was going out. As long as mot a lot of data coming through it was fine, but the more people online or watching tv, the worse it got.

You actually guessed it!

He said it was an old unit and as it runs it heats up and when it overheats shuts off until it cools again.

I was just coming to post this update when I saw the red dot ?? on the bell ?? notification on my phone.

Repair guy checked the small version in the attic and ran a bypass of it so that it will never bother us too.
