"needs to re-authenticate" message

I have Suddenlink with secn in my package. I have the espn app on iphone and a roku tv with the espn channel. (I was able to watch LSU v Maine on secn+ this weekend no problem.)
Tuesday I tried to watch a random game on secn+ (lamar v aTm I believe), but I got a message saying "needs to re-authenticate". Just out of curiosity I checked another game, same message. I also get the same message if I try to watch any game on secn+ through the espn app on my iphone...
again, I have secn+ in my provider (suddenlink) package; I watched LSU v Maine with no issues this passed weekend; now getting this message...
anyone have any ideas, solutions?
ESPN tech support is telling me it is with my provider; Suddenlink "support" (if you can call it that) is acting like they have never heard of "re-authenticate" or "resync" (another term espn support used with me)???

so the way this works is there is an API that is the connection between 2 systems.
In your case, there is the 'suddenlink' client who must get an authentication token from ESPN who handles the 'keys'.
The breakdown could be on either side, but if it was ESPN the entire Internet would be exploding right now so likely there is a problem on the Suddenlink authentication server. Probably needs a reboot or something but yeah, your average 'suddenlink support' worker is going to have no idea how this works or what authentication means. Its likely affecting everyone with Suddenlink.
Judging by the comments on this page, Suddenlink is having issues.

I use FireTV Stick and get that sometimes. I just log out and log back in and it usually works. I figured it was a check to help stop password sharing.

quote:
Is the API SOAP or REST?

i have no idea; i just completed an oauth2 API project myself so familiar with the latter at least for our purposes which is really just user authentication.

Plenty of big company's still using some ancient arse shite, trust me. In my experience typically the bigger and older a company is the more of a pain in the arse their api is going to be. Also traditional cable TV companies seem to be perfectly fine with their apps being buggy pieces of shite and the ever growing pool of devices those apps need to support doesn't help.
