Something we seldom have to worry about here is extended cold. I have a 43-inch LG LCD on patio plus it’s covered.

Thoughts on bringing a TV inside … no, it’s not like a pet to me.

I don’t think it’s necessary. I’ve had either a projection, Plasma or an LCD TV outside for the last 14 years. I have never had a problem with leaving them hanging in freeing weather. They were all installed under a covered patio

Just leave it on if you're worried

I've always had mine outside and never take them in, even on hard freeze nights. I recall reading that they are "always on" in some capacity, which generally generates enough heat to protect the electronics. Honestly, the humid is more of a factor than the temperature.

I have one that's been outside under a pergola for about 18 months. It's probably seen high teens a handful of times. It's fine.

I have a 65" TCL which has been on our covered patio for three years, which survived the Texas snowmageddon last year with no problems.

my 65" vizio spent the night on the back porch which got down to 16 degrees.

as long as you bring the remote inside from the elements, the tv should be fine.

Check the owner's manual, but most will store just fine down to -4F

yep think about those tvs on non-climate controlled train cars and 18 wheelers heading for best buy cruising through -30 degree weather in wisconsin and north dakota.

I put a tv out on my patio this summer. It's not covered but it sits under an 10' overhang. It got down to -2 last night, so I'll see if it works this Spring.

I've had an old one outside since October of 2020. It has seen temps from the low single digits to almost 100 in that time, and still works every time I turn it on. I was kind of wishing it would die so I could upgrade, but as long as it still works it is fine for sitting outside when the weather is nice and watching sports. And even better for telling the kids to go out there to watch a movie and give me some peace and quiet in the house for 90 minutes.

Most consumer electronics are typically designed, at minimum, with operating temperatures at 0°C with storage temps of -20°C.

In the professional electronics and sensors I work with they are designed to operate at temps down to -30°C and storage temps down to -55°C.

Don’t worry about it. I got a cheap 42 inch about five years ago. It’s outside but covered. It went through the TX freeze last February and it got down to -1 and it still works fine

Ours is under a covered patio and has a cover. We'll see if it still works in the spring.

It'll be fine. I have a cheap TCL in my backyard. It was actually nice enough this afternoon to sit outside and turn it on for the first time in a few weeks and it worked fine. No problems with the cold weather.
