Bought a ring motion sensor spotlight. It says I need a bridge to use it. It works with batteries but I assume there are more settings on the app?

Someone help me here. Do I even need the bridge?

I already have the doorbell camera that works with the app by itself

The lights connect to the bridge. The bridge is the controller.

quote:

Use the Ring Bridge to unlock smart controls for Ring Lights. The Ring Bridge lets Ring lights, doorbells and cameras talk to each other and work better together in the Ring App, so you can receive mobile notifications whenever motion is detected and adjust settings with your phone or tablet. It also lets you group together Ring Smart Lights and connect them to Ring doorbells and cameras. If one Ring Bridge-enabled device detects motion, it can turn on your lights, activate cameras and more.

Without the bridge your light has no sense of ambient lighting and will constantly trigger on during the day. It is pretty much useless without the bridge. Can't adjust brightness, set schedules, trigger other devices...

Gotcha.

Well now I feel I must get more lights to link with the bridge instead of just one motion light

To Google for ideas!

Looking at this I'm wondering why I'm in on the ring stuff outside my camera. I ordered two light bulbs for the hell of it.

It seems only Ring bulbs are compatible with the bridge?
