Utilitech LED lightbulb reviews?

I am looking at switching to 100% LED lightbulbs at home.
Do any of you have experince with the "Utilitech" brand that Lowes carries?
LINK
Was $6.98 now $2.48 each
Are these middle of the mall and not worth the trouble?

It's a Lowes private brand that cuts out the middle man - just as good as other name brands (most bulbs are imported from the same factories). That particular bulb is decent quality but since the LED bulb revolution is in full swing, look for consumers to benefit from upcoming price wars.
As you can see from the reviews online, you are getting a good value for your purchase. As always though, if you can hang out until Black Friday - you may see better deals surface.

Note it is Non-dimmming.
Also I would try a few out before I changed out my whole house. Most LED lamps tend to direct light in one direction.

That means that they wont work with the sliding or rotating dimmer switch?

Correct, Check all LED lighting some are non-dimming meaning they can not be dimmed.
Other LED's are dimming type and can be used with a dimmer.

For the record I've bought about 30 of these for a friend's restaurant and they dim just fine with an old rotary dimmer.
Eta if you're talking about the white 60w led bulbs at Lowe's they are selling for $2.48.. Not sure if there is more than one bulb at that price.
At less than $3 a bulb buy a few and test them yourself.

We also bought a lot of no-name special purpose LED bulbs from Amazon - including chandelier bulbs and clear "Edison" style bulbs - and they were pretty much junk. One brand we bought on Amazon had 3 out of 4 bulbs fail within a month.

The ones I've bought were a little more on the pink end of the spectrum that the Cree bulbs. I prefer the color of the Crees, but otherwise, the Utilitechs have been just fine.
Honestly, if you used only Utilitechs, you probably wouldn't notice. Just when you start mixing and matching.

keep in mind home depot has $2.48 philips LED bulbs (in 2 packs) so if you're getting ready to make the jump to LED, you might try both first before deciding.
i concur about the cree..they look better but they are still like $10 each.

I am in the process of house hunting, so it might be a little while before I get hands on usage, but I wanted to go ahead and purchase some bulbs due to the low prices.
CAD I will also check out that 2 pack Philips

Thanks again.

I have recessed can lights in a 12 foot celling that seem like they going out every couple of months. was thinking of changing them to LED so I don't have to keep changing and hopefully for a little cost savings. Any idea what would be best value? They are on a dimmer switch as well.

GET THESE AND NEVER LOOK BACK

housing and light in one..they look great.
make **TRIPLE** sure you're getting the tw series (true white) as they are 90%+ as real as an incadescent and you replace the housing/bulb at once.
they also work on rotary dimmers.
you want this:

not this:

if you see the little clips on the light lens, thats the older cree.
eta, make sure you "pop out" the little legs ALL THE WAY prior to installing them so they will 'suck up' into the opening.
if you don't extend the legs all the way, they won't fit flush.
to remove them, just twist the housing (like a lightbulb) and the legs will collapse.
they're foolproof once you've done one and have the hang of it..takes about 5 seconds to install.
at $19 i replaced 10-15 in my house which all had some random combination of incadescent, twirly CFLs, those lightbulbs that point down, etc. in fact, in my kitchen i removed 6 bulbs..and every single one was different.

now they look fricking killer.

I find it to be a little sturdier model.
i cant tell the difference..its not like i'm swinging a pool stick at my light housing

i can tell you the tw series by cree produces the most natural light you can buy right now.

Both the Cree and Sylvania are in the 20-25/light price range, is that correct?

ive never seen the sylvania in store, just 'consumer electric' which sucks.
cree's are $19.
eta i also should point out i bought several new eyeball trim housings from HALO and just put some cheap GE BR30 LEDs in those for now. the house was built about 40 years ago so those eyeball units were dirty & discolored so i wanted everything to look new.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
