I struggled to find one that would satisfy both the needs of a baby monitor and my wants for home automation. The wifi ones do not have the handheld monitor, and the ones with handheld monitors cannot connect to any home automation platforms.
So, we just went with this one LINK ==

I don't know if they improved since I looked in 2014, but audio only ones tended to have a lot more features than video did and the video ones kinda sucked in comparison to cell phone level cameras.
Here is what I did, I bought a top end audio only one that had a lot of the checking for breathing features that was a hell of a lot cheaper than any basic video one and video ones didn't have a lot of these features like the audio one without spending a crap ton. Next I took an old iPhone found an app called cloud baby monitor. Used the old iphone to function as a baby monitor camera that I could pull up from anywhere. It gave me a much superior video/audio setup that matched any of the features on the video ones and saved me a lot of money. Has the two way talk and plays lullabies through the app. Audio only monitors still work great too. Probably now I would use it as an excuse to buy a Ring/Nest indoor cam.
Seems like the video baby monitors sucked arse in comparison to regular security cameras that were cheaper too.

I use normal security cameras and we use a cheap audio only one as back up.
The cameras that dont have a provided monitor can lose connection in the middle of the night, then you are screwed unless you are a light sleeper. We didnt really want another handheld device to carry around on top of our phones, which is the reason I went with a camera only type model that connects to phones, tablets, etc...
I have heard good things about the ARLO unit though.

I just ordered a Wyze camera to use as a baby monitor and am planning on syncing to a google home hub as a display screen.
If the display/audio doesn’t go as planned, I’ll use the Wyze and get a separate audio only monitor.
If you get a dedicated baby monitor, make sure it has very long range.

Nest Cam+ Google Home Hub on bedside table.
You can pull up the camera on voice command. We also just keep a cheap audio monitor as well for back up. Son just turned one and this has been perfect. Especially because it will integrate into a larger smart home ecosystem. Instead of having a Frankenstein of 5 different brands.
Also can use your phone obviously. We’ve got two Google Home hubs. The other is in the kitchen. It’s nice to be doing dishes and just “Okay Google, show me the nursery camera.”

We have an infant optics dxr-something. It is the shite. We take it with us everywhere. Hell, it even reached down at the beach when we took it to the beach house and that's at least a few hundred feet.
We have nest cams all throughout the house, but it was too impractical to have apps open on iphones, ipads, etc.. all the time.

How long does the video continuously play on the hub? I have ring cams and my Echo Show 2 will only play about 10 minutes of my ring cameras before going back to the home screen. It works well in the kitchen like your setup, but wouldn't be much of a baby monitor.
To the OP.. I have a Motorola Video baby monitor. Do NOT get one of these. This is my third one. First was a gift and stopped charging so I got it warranty replaced. The replacement went out. I bought a newer version Motorola (dumb) b/c Motorola had a longer advertised range for monitoring. The lowest volume is too high. Range isn't really good. Just overall it is overprice and no smart features anyway.
In my kids room right now I have:
Ring stick up cam. This is for when I'm away from home or sometimes in the kitchen I can pull this camera up on the Echo Show. I wish I would have bought the newer & cheaper version, but this is a decent camera although pricey. I had a wyse (first gen) and I prefer the ring.
Motorola Baby Monitor This stays bedside is is really only used when we are sleeping
Hatch Baby Rest - If you want a gift idea, this is something to look into. I have programs set so at certain times of the day this 'night light / sound machine' changes colors and plays different sounds. My kids stay in bed until the light changes color letting them know it's wakeup time. There are different options out there. In fact I believe amazon just came up with a kid's night light echo device.

We received this Motorola wifi camera as a gift. It's been uber reliable. Never a dropped connection, the range is silly good and I was able to check on the kiddos while out of town.
They're older now but we still use it as sort of a nanny cam when we're away.

The range on mine isn't bad, but it isn't a much as advertised and wasn't much better compared to other, cheaper monitors. My kids are on a completely differently end of a long house so my connection is ok provided I have the camera mounted high enough and in a certain spot. I can move my camera now 10' and lose connection. Also, the biggest problem I had with my monitor is the charger. It's a micro usb and on all three motorola's i've owned, it has gone out. I'm currently using a third party charger which isn't a big problem b/c I have so many laying around. It's just frustrating that for years the reviews on amazon all bitched about the chargers and plugs yet the one I bought 2 years ago still has the micro usb.
With all that said...I don't have the model you have. I've been a motorola fan most of my life so i tend to buy their products when possible. Hopefully the model you have has worked out the bugs.

I have heard good things about the ARLO unit though.
We have the Arlo baby camera. When we got it, there were plans to release a stand alone monitor, but a few months later they released a statement that said that it worked so well with Amazon Fire tablets that they would not be releasing a monitor themselves.
It is true, fire tablets work well with it, they just sometimes develop a lag of several seconds and need the stream to be restarted. The Echo Show, unfortunately, does not work well with it.
We do like it in that we can check it on our phones, it has temperature and air quality monitor, can play all sorts of sounds. We have had white noise playing on it almost continuously for about a year now.
At any rate, they began carrying it at Costco a few months ago. I imagine it falls under their electronics return policy, but, if not, you can’t beat the guarantee of buying it there, even as a gift.
One note, if you are already in the Arlo ecosystem, it will count as one of your 5 free streams. Workaround if necessary is creating another account and granting your main account access. I think we have 4 accounts now between my wife and I and I can see all of the streams on the account that I stay logged in on on my phone.
