Willing to invest in one not a ton. Must be able to be on Lock Screen.

It used to be Dark Sky, which was very good. But that was bought up by Apple's weather app, and I've never used it to see how it compares.

Radarscope. $10 will get you access to all radars with detailed reflectivity, velocity, correlation coefficient etc. it’s was all the experts use. For forecasts check national weather service or go directly to models on a site like Pivotal weather or tropical tidbits.

I’ve wondered why Apple doesn’t partner with a real weather organization to develop an app instead of their mostly unreliable and sometimes comical native app.

Stock weather app. It’s better than anyone else’s. Used to do dark sky. Tried WeatherBug, myradar, weather channel (apples data source), and tons of others I don’t remember. Apple has no ads and has everything I need.

I dumped weather channel because all of the junk (ads, videos, etc.). I finally went with AccuWeather but can’t say it’s any better. A little less buggy. Looking forward to seeing other’s opinions.

Myradar
Tried and hated it awhile back. UI was awful. I’ll try it again though.
ETA : not bad, will keep it downloaded and try again

RadarScope as you can share it across your devices
LINK https://radarscope.zendesk.com/
Or look up Ventusky: Weather Maps & Radar
That one is free
LINK https://www.ventusky.com/app
Here is just the web version, pretty slick

I miss my Dark Sky app as Apple made it worse as part of its stock weather app which is becoming the norm for them. While Cook is great at operations he has no vision besides woke and also has allowed many interface issues and inconsistencies with interfaces after he pushed out the guy who wouldn’t apologize publicly for the original map fiasco.

I use WeatherBug. It's not all that full-featured, but it does feel like it's often more accurate (the hour by hour projections) than those used by people I'm around.

I've generally eschewed weather apps. I use AccuWeather just in a browser window.

WeatherBug isn't a weather app, it is a data harvesting app. It has been since it was PC only.
There are two primary sources for weather data, the NOAA and another agency. I know there are weather geniuses in this thread that can clarify. I tend to spend time looking at either Apple Weather (since they bought DarkSky) and Storm Radar, and focusing more on the precipitation patterns than anything else. Any app can say 70% chance of rain at your current location, but I have to look at radar anyway to figure out if that means it may sprinkle for four minutes, or if I'm going to get a quarter inch over the course of a few hours.

I love Carrot but it’s because it’s all snarky and bitches at me and about the weather. You can choose any of 6 weather sources as your primary. You’ll either love it or hate it.

Space City Weather for forecasts
Wunderground for current conditions
Radarscope for current radar (best app I own)
Windy for wind information

And they've been that way since the late 90s. No idea why/how they're still around.

I use Today Weather daily, but when shite is hitting the fan I go to MyRadar.

Radar scope is awesome for precip and rainfall totals, storm velocity etc.
For forecasts I just use the local nbc station’s weather app. They have the best local pro Mets.
