Which home office (monitor) setup would you go with

Been planning to redo my home office, and trying to decide how I want my monitors setup. Currently have (qty 2) 32” widescreen curved monitors side by side that I like, but really want to add a 3rd monitor. Torn between:
1) Adding a third of the same 32” monitor, for a total of 3 side by side with each other
2) replacing both monitors I have now with a single Samsung 57” curved ultra wide. This doesn’t really solve my problem of wanting a 3rd monitor, but I do ALOT of work in spreadsheets that are massive, and would be nice to have the entire screen width for the spreadsheets without the frame of the 2 regular monitors I have now splitting it down the middle.
3) Samsung 57” curved ultra wide + one 32” curved widescreen next to it. I feel like this solves all of my problems just not sure if I am missing anything about this setup that wouldn’t work well.
Only other option I could think of is having the 57” centered with a mid-20” regular widescreen oriented vertically on one side. Not sure exactly how I would use that but a few people at work have one set up that way and seem to like it.
I haven’t built my new desk yet, so can always tweak that if there are better options out there than what I listed.
Also, anyone here have any experience with the 57” Samsung ultra wide I’m looking at? Or ultra wides in general? Are there any cons to a single ultra wide vs (2) regular monitors side by side I’m missing?

Im assuming it’s a pretty good monitor? Main uses would be CAD, Microstation, Navisworks, Fusion, and other drafting and 3D modeling programs + typical MS office apps (not really into PC gaming)

I would recommend a 4th option. Basically 3 with the far right monitor in portrait view that is a bit longer scale. Love one of those for reviewing PDFs.

I have a Samsung 49" Odyssey ultrawide and wouldn't trade it for anything. The 57" would be even better.

Nowhere yet. Designed it myself and going to build it once I figure out what I’m going with for my monitor setup.
Going to be built fairly specific to my needs.

I agree with this.

1) what is the resolution on your 32” curved monitor? There’s a good mix of 1440 and 2160 monitors at that size.
2) if 2160, getting the 57” Samsung + one of them would be great. Still could be fine if one of them is 1440, but if you’ve ever messed with multi-resolutions in one setup, you’ll eventually get used to it, but there will always be a difference, things will resize between screens, and if any of your apps live on a Remote Desktop connection, you’ll occasionally run into a few weird problems (fairly niche, I know. But at least worth bringing up).
I have a Philips 49” ultrawide. I want the Samsung 57 but not enough to pull the trigger. I have attempted to convince my wife on a number of occasions that it would be a good use of space in our office. I have not been able to do so yet. Price has dramatically dropped from launch ($2500) til now (around $1500).
I will continue to desire one unless someone comes out with a 5120x2160 in the 49” space (which really is big enough. I don’t want the more space. I’d welcome it. But it’s not necessary. I want the higher resolution).

While everyone who’s interested in monitors is in the room, anyone have thoughts on the LG Dual up?
It’s fairly pricey ($700) but is essentially 2x 21.5” monitors stacked on top of each other (there’s a premium for the “two monitors without a bezel). This seems like it’s probably a better one-monitor setup for someone who docks their laptop, but I feel like there’s probably some use cases (and this could be one) where someone would see it and say, “heck yeah. That’s what I want.” Not sure if there’s much/any advantage over a bigger standard 16:9 32” that rotates (if that fits in his setup there).

I actually think my existing 2 are 1920x1080. They’re kind of older. I didn’t even think about them being different resolution from the new ultra wide. Guess I’ll have to get a new second monitor too if I decide to go option 3 or 4.
I think whichever route I take it will involve the 57” Samsung ultra wide thought. Probably going to go ahead and order that today.

yep, once you've had a big arse portrait monitor for documents you won't go back.
eta especially if you're hooking up a laptop to this setup; microsoft can 'try' to return your positioning on documents, windows, etc. when you connect to your dock if you left the PDF up on the larger screen to one side...but in true Windows 95 manner, it is pathetic.
better to have that dedicated portrait monitor to fling a pdf or word doc over to. its life changing.

similar situation where i literally bought all the monitors and stands just so i could see/feel it live..
i went with a 34 curve in the middle and one 32 on either side, vertical.
If your stands work, flip your two curves up and just add a new one in the middle

Yeah I think I read this explained as a “tie fighter” setup lol. That could be an option too. I guess since I just ordered the ultra wide I will just play around with a few different options and see what I like best.
Need to figure out if my graphics card can handle doing the ultra wide + 2 other monitors without struggling. Not too concerned with my desktop as that’s a pretty good setup, but my work laptop may struggle? Idk, I haven’t dove into the computer building/spec requirments rabbit hole in a while so I should probably get back up to speed.

Well, if you’re working with 1080p monitors and unbothered, then you may find these nearly-featureless Samsung monitors on sale to be a decent upgrade and worth the money when your big boy comes in. I have a similar LG monitor (no usb. Non rotatable stand. Optional VESA mount, 1-HDMI, 1-DP in, 60hz, 3840x2160 (16:9) monitors at $200/pop to be a good deal for an upgrade. Usually they’re around $300 and at $300, there are a handful of other practically identical spec’d monitors from other brands (my LG falls into this category).
Probably doesn’t need to be said, but this is not a “what’s the best gaming monitor?” recommendation. This is a “hey. There’s a thread about this right now, and this is a 33% price break on what could be a decent upgrade for that guy who is using 1080 32” monitors” recommendation.
For general use (non-video editing/production work in a browser or across Office or Office-like product), this is going to be an absolutely “fine” monitor.
Im actually going to try to convince my wife when she returns to let me buy a pair of them in lieu of the 57” Samsung (which is a much, much better monitor. But when you want pixels and space, this is getting you 80-90% of the way there). If this were for staring at more than 4 hours a week, I’d probably go for the big boy. But this is to dock her laptop a couple times a week, and I’ll probably grab a mini PC and set up a little emulation station for my little ones to goof around on.
And then one day when I’m rich and famous I’ll buy a single ultrawide.

0 gaming will be done on this, but I do use my setup for a good bit of 3D modelling and rendering. I have no real complaints about my 1080 ones now really, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I don’t want to upgrade things on that end either.
The 57” Samsung is still sitting in my cart for now. I fight myself every day on whether I should click order or not
. Mainly because I still can’t decide how I want my new desk setup laid out. I feel like it might be a just a little too much of a curve. I think Best Buy might have one on display so may try to check it out before I buy it.

Shucks. Half of this post was to get you to come back so I could read about you buying it and how much you love it.

I have three 32" curved monitors arranged as you show in your first picture. I've been working this way for 5 years and love it, no issues at all.
I don't care for the single monolithic screen, the cost is too high for me.

No regrets. This thing is awesome. And massive
Ignore the mess, temporary setup until I finish building new desk, so Im not doing any cable management until then.
