I'll be getting ATT fiber to the house soon and would like to have 4 old Cox coax connectors switched to ethernet ( maybe with PoE) I've read that you can use the old cable as a pull wire simplifying the task. The lines run through the attic. My days of scurrying around in the attic for DIY projects are over even when the temps are not lethal. Anybody know of Baton Rouge company or independent tech who does small projects?

Buy moca adapters on Amazon and call it a day.

And POE isn't cable based, you need a POE switch or POE injector to push the power

the good news is, you can add PoE to any old ethernet connection in the house just by purchasing a $20 PoE switch on amazon so you only need to buy as much as you need/when you need it.

I'd do it for you. If the coax was ran during construction they may be stapled to the studs so using them to pull ethernet won't be easy.

I think the thought of fish tape makes me nauseous. Good luck in the attic!

OP, do not try to repurpose COAX unless you're on an extreme budget. COAX is much more susceptible to water intrusion which can become a bugaboo problem that nobody will seemingly be able to nail down.

While you're (OP) shopping for a tech to do the work, keep in mind it's usually much harder to run cable to a jack on an exterior wall than it is an interior wall. Be thoughtful about where you want the wires homerun to (where they all converge.) Make sure you can put a UPS on the switch at the homerun location, and it shouldn't be dirty, hot or humid. And always run more wire than you think you need at once. Entertainment center? At least two drops. Home office, at least two. Just in case.

Absolutely false.

Most half arse decent equipment is rated to run in conditions of 150F+

Spoken from someone that has their whole homelab in their AC-less storage room in Louisiana
