Windows 10 Folder Disappeared

This has happened soon after I upgraded to Win10. I don't recall what I did 6 yrs ago when this happened.
But it is the same folder that is on a hard drive different than what the OS is on. It has tax returns, resumes, analysis tools/spreadsheets, etc.
So this folder disappeared years ago and now it has gone again. I just don't recall how I got it back. It utterly pisses me off that Windows does this. I've searched online and tried the things suggested.
Anybody have this happen and know how to fix?

Sounds like you have a secondary drive on your system that was mounted to a different drive letter?
Check disk management or diskpart to see if the disk exists to windows

Could be a number of things but likely a soft link was broken. Is the drive itself working? Is it encrypted? Is there a backup? I strongly recommend at least using the free onedrive storage for documents. That way they’re on all of your devices also.

BB, you are correct.
My OS runs on C, a SSD.
I have 2 other HD's with different letters.
If Windows didn't think the drives existed, then I would've never been able to access them correct?
I can access the drives fine. I have had the same folder just disappear out of the blue twice, 6 yrs apart.

Are you referring to a folder shortcut or favorite on the start menu or something disappearing? Or are you opening explorer, opening up C:\ (or D or H or whatever), navigating to the folder and then it's not there?

The latter.
Going H drive and folder is not there

Ok I got this fixed last night. Oddly enough, I did quite a few searches for what to do. This one only showed up after quite a bit of searching and it was simple.
I went to the drive and went to "properties", "Tools" tab, and selected the "error checking" button.
It scanned and then repaired the folder. Viola, the folder was back in there.
I don't understand why this has happened to this folder twice over a period of 5-6 yrs.

Was it the same physical drive? If so, have you run a SMART test on it?

Have you considered moving the folder to OneDrive?

Yes same drive.
No I haven't run a Smart test on it. I'll give it a try

Maybe I should. I have an external back up but I haven't backed up in awhile.

If it's a HDD (as opposed to an SSD) create a backup of the data (to OneDrive, or wherever there is space) yesterday. If you don't have room, just don't backup program folders, download folders, etc. (i.e. non un-recoverable data that can't just be re-installed.)
Pay attention to the thresholds of all the SMART parameters, and where your max/min actual data is. You may see something funky like the temperature hasn't hit the threshold yet, but it's awfully close to it, etc.
FWIW, the last spinning disk I have outside of my NAS only has stuff on it (work space for Handbrake/MakeMKV, Steam installs for games that don't require SSDs that I rarely play, etc) that if it evaporated ten minutes from now, I wouldn't miss a byte.
