3.5 Days in Maine

Will be in philly for a wedding in late september, looking to piggyback a first visiti to Maine. We would fly into Bar BHB and likely rent a car.
Biggest things for us would be top restaurants and things to do. I would likely stay at the West Street Hotel an bar. I don't think we would venture too far outside of the Bar Harbor area.

Bar Harbor is a great place and the West street Hotel is an incredible place to stay. Make sure your room faces the Harbor. Request it! Stewman’s Lobster Bar is directly across the street. It’s a cool little social scene with some of the best Lobster in the state. Be sure to try the Blueberry Pie. It is without a doubt the finest dessert you will ever eat. I never really cared for fruit pie but one bite and you will order two.
My family and I just ordered a whole pie at every meal. The blueberries are totally different than the one’s in the south.
We had a great time in Bar Harbor.
I would highly advise you bike Acadia National Park. You can bike 10 miles and never break a sweat. The views are amazing.
Camden is a nice place to visit and not that far. It has great restaurants, coffee and desserts. It’s an easy place to spend a day.
But, if you don’t plan on leaving Bar Harbor just sit on the roof in the evenings on top of the West Street Hotel. You can grab some drinks, a bottle of wine and just enjoy the views and the sunset. There is an old ship that moves around in the evening and the sails are pink. When the sun passes through it, it’s quiet the sight.
You should have a great time regardless what you choose.
Bring back updates.
Have a great trip!!!

We loved Bar Harbor. Did a good bit of hiking in Acadia, beer drinking in the afternoon.
*they have the closest Irish bar in America there….self proclaimed but I guess….we went.

If you have a car just cruise around the island of Mount Desert and enjoy how beautiful those woods and harbors are and stop when you feel like it.. Amazing place in the late summer.

Bar Harbor and Acadia are awesome. So is most of Coastal Maine. Flights to BHB may be tough (only Cape Air serves them if memory is right). Consider Bangor BGR if set on BHB.
Portland is very cool. Look at the Casco Bay "mail run". Its like 10 bucks to ride on the ferry as it makes stops at four islands in Casco Bay. You can bring food and drink and just have a picnic taking in the beautiful scenery. We did it a few years ago and for $30 three of us had lunch, a few beers and an awesome 2.5 hour bay cruise.

quote:Yeah we stopped in Portland for 3 days on the way to ANP and we really enjoyed our time there as well.. Spent a 1/2 day out on Peaks Island but I didn't even know the ferry went to 3 other islands. Must go back to verify!!!!!
