I've never been, but interested in checking out something different next month than the typical gulf coast beaches.
Will be traveling from the Baton Rouge area.

NW Arkansas is the default answer but my wife and I did three days in Hot Springs over winter break and loved it.

We are in our early 40s and we always joked it’s just for old people. We were surprised how good the food and bar scene was. They have a cool horse race track and casino, ganster museum, and of course the bath houses

It will be hot as balls but there is good hiking and a nice lake you can rent a boat for the day.

Traveling alone? Adults only? With kids?

Very nice. It’s in Missouri but close enough. I love that area too. Big Cedar is $$$ so we stay on Table Rock Lake and do a day at Big Cedar.

Btw if you have kids Silver Dollar City is a great theme park. Dollywood owns it.

Give me an outdoor Arkansas or nature trip 10/10 times over 30a.

This time of year I'd stick close to water, its HOT here and warming up daily.

Need more info, but lived here all my life.

What do you like to do? Kids? No kids?

As was said elsewhere: be sure it's on the water, whatever you do. It's hot that time of year.

For a three day trip I would not go too far north of Little Rock. Greer's Ferry Lake/Little Red River area is very nice. Lake Ouachita, Lake Catherine and Lake Hamilton, all near Hot Springs, are very nice areas too.

Yeah I just replied to the other thread, highly recommend staying in Hot Springs and making day trips to state parks. We stayed at the double tree which is on the lake. From BR it’s really not a bad drive, pretty much all rural.

Completely different vibe from a beach trip. My family has a pretty good beach setup. Our kids are young and hard to take anywhere, but looking back we probably had more fun doing central Arkansas than any beach trip. I don’t remember as many fights

Sorry, should have added that I'll be traveling with family. Wife and a 9 and 6 year old.

We decided on Hot Springs instead of the usual 4th of July beach trip. Staying on Lake Hamilton. Looking forward to it more than I ever have for a usual beach trip.
